We miss a good no5 or no6 batsman like vvs who was adept at playing both pace and spin. Rahane was ok but nobody after that

in addition to what you have only care for Tests:

1. Need a right arm Leggie .. a big tweaker at good pace with top spin , googly and flipper .. a decent bat. Wonder why gopal was never given a shot

2. Need a good off spinner . Overspin , drift , doosra .. a decent bat.. Washington needs to work on bowling more ..

3. A good home season schedule with consistent , deterministic playing conditions . A list of identified grounds to play in. start with the Pongal test .

play only in Chennai (batting friendly) , Mumbai (seam) , Kolkata (spin slow) , Delhi (depends) , Bangalore ( depends)

4. A specialist test team that plays pre-season training  and post season conditioning

5. a great slip cordon .

6. Market test cricket a premium product. BCCI should invest in attracting crowds . Do market analysis to determine how to make it spectacle ..

7. select only based on Ranji performance. All test players should play Ranji for selection .

8. Run an A tour in parallel . ( keep them in tier 2 cities) . Promote the he’ll out of it .

9. bring back president eleven games back

In test Ind is complete disarray they just have 1 batter -Jaiswal and 1.5 bowlers bhumrah+siraj. Need batters and bowlers.

Odi --- Seam bowling allrounder, kolhi's replacement , back-up pacers, LH batter in MO and finishers.

T20i-- Back-up for Bhumrah, Ind seriously lacks power in mo and lower mo, they need power hitter and finisher and Proper t20 wk-batter. Amongst all good t20i sides Ind has worse wk-batting resources, some teams even have better 2nd 3r choice t20i wk-batters

Ishan not intnl quality -- 124 sr in 32 matches

Pant not a t20 batter--124 sr in 75-80 matches

Sanju can not play if not opening :: if he is not batting at #1 , his sr is below 130

Jitesh --not intnl quality

This selection committee has not introduced Young players in the squad.

They are playing with certain set of players.

Sarfaraz, Parag, Harsh Dubey, Yash Rathod,Patidar, Sen, Suthar, Kotian, would have made difference to  the team ' performance

Off topic but good step.  Sack Kanitkar and Joshi and select a performance based squad for U19 WC.

Even Pooks had Sarfaraz who has played International cricket off late as Mentor.

These are the resources/personnels we need who will play but what we are primarily lacking are:

-scouting(for Ranji,VHT etc)

-corruption free selectors(state+national) who can identify these gaps and

-communication across all the domestic boards..This is what we need and to be groomed for..and not just go by only stats..

Scouting is happening for ipl teams only but not for domestics/Indian team..and lazy BCCI is  considering ipl as feeder line for national team across all formats and not doing its job…in case of state boards..corruption is paramount..not sure if talent is selected based on only skills..so that feeder to national team comes with low output

Additionally,we need properly functioning NCA and MRF academy..those are actually producing results and not just ruining potential players..

We are 1.4B people..so even if we have poor ratio of quality/quantity it shouldnt matter..we still should be able to form 2 top quality teams if proper system is there..

just because of sheer numbers where region/caste/creed/religion/political bias doesnt or shudnt matter..

Who is our ODI opener in WC in SA

Posted (edited)

We also need a strike spin bowler for SC, even 80% of Ashwin. Kuldeep (who I like and have high hopes on) has proved to be a massive disappointment at home, was outbowled by 37 yo Jadeja both against NZ and RSA. If you compare KD with what Ashwin/Jadeja were at his age, there is a massive gulf, not to forget the difference in their batting contributions. Washi also has to improve a lot, he picked 1 wicket against RSA while Harmer picked 17 at average of 8 !!!!! Sure he wasn't used in Kolkata but what about Guwahati where Saffers made merry against our popgun bowling?

KD, Axar, Washi, and Jadeja, who is on the cusp of retirement....our spin stocks are shockingly mediocre. We will continue to suffer at home and no matter how well we do in SENA, with a mediocre home record, we ain't making a WTC final any time soon.

2025 T20 performance breakdown tells you we lack a lot of fire power down the order. Abhishek , Pandya, DUbe, Tilak are covering the inadequacies. Even Tilak is not good in all phases.  Samson was totally wasted by team management. I think this distribution will look better in the coming days.

2025 Performance break down powerplay/middle overs/death overs

Min 30 balls in PP and MO and MIn 20 balls in Death overs.

Harsh Dubey, Sai Kishore, Manav Suthar....hope someone new is fast-tracked to our test team. We can't field such a dire spin attack in SL next year or the 27 BGT.

Dhoni gambled with rookies Ashwin, Jadeja when people were still hung up on Bhajji, Ojha, Amit Mishra, Chawla. And look how we benefited for the next 10-12 years. For all his faults, one must appreciate how Dhoni groomed and backed youngsters, even Kohli, Rohit, Pujara, Rahane.

Gambhir is Happy playing with certain set of players and he is averse  to playing Sarfaraz, Parag.

Ajit  Agarkar also selected senior in A team.

V.good data here, In regards to sanju he has sub 130 sr if he plays anywhere apart from #1, that was just a dumb move to place him in mo.  He mishits alot.

The issue with not able to finish is Ind does not understand the finisher and the prototype of a finisher, The finisher should have power game should be able to hit down and ground vs high pace and should be able to bouncers. PPl think rinku is a finsher he is not thal tall plus he is good sq. of the wkt not down the ground.

Need tall and batter with power game who can access both leg and off-side.

Pollard, russle, tim david, Pandya (with his limitations), miller are prototype finishers.

Axar and SUndar two tall guys are supposed to play the role of Stoinis, TIm David, Jansen.  But they are woefully inadequate. No ability to step hit despite being tall.

both lacks power game, plus they do not play any innovative shots , They have restricted bat swing , it may work vs 2nd tier bowling units bt not vs in icc event where teams are playing on full strength.

Thats where Ind should develop player like Dhir, he is tall with long levers and some power game, there was an allrounder in smat jakhar (hryn) he may be arounf 6.4-6.5 bowls 128-129 kmph and showed he can hit down the ground , may be he should be developed vs high pace and short pitch ball.
