Right step after Sindoor would have been boycotting Asia Cup or playing it in India without Pakistan. Instead we played our home tournament overseas, filled PCB coffers and our so called defiance was players refusing to shake hands with Pooks. What kind of sissy response was that? And how would that hurt our enemies? PCB went laughing its way to the bank, Naqvi managed to score some PR victories, and we gained nothing from that episode. Children/wives of Pahalgam victims, army veterans came on TV crying, pleading for us to not play Pakistan with wounds so fresh....and we came up with 'no handshake' policy, wtf was that?

Many BJP supporters put their party and leaders above Indian army, country.....justify anything and everything. Cult like behavior should always be opposed. There is this cult tendency cutting across party lines and ideologies, but who is in power right now?

We are still confused wrt Pakistan. Seems like we are just using cricket to satisfy people. This was few days back in Dhaka

Cricketers, Diljit, Khans are soft targets.

Modi can attend a wedding in Pakistan, Jaishankar can deliver love letters to Khaleda Zia's extremist son, Taliban will be welcomed in our national capital. Cult supporters will spin narratives.

Yes why not if you conduct crime in foreign country yoo are on their mercy. BTW good thatvyou dont care you should bother about canada. Let indian government and resident  indianhandle what is best for india.

Sorry man, I can't say I agree with you. By your own logic, India has nothing to do with wtv happens within bd so you guys should butt out of it. It's within their border. Their Hindu students also were jumping up and down to take the ex prime minister down. Actions have consequences.

Also, isn't Shakib playing for MI in itlt20 final? Where is the criticism in that? These are stupidity by the people and the government to get Brownee points

The atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh didn’t start after recent  riots. Hindus were 22% in 1971 now at less than 8%. Even with.Sheikh Hasina and so-called secular government this has continued. Just because a few Hindu students supported the toppling of the government, it doesn’t mean that they deserve to be lynched. and burnt on the street.

If atrocities happen against any community in any country sportsmen have spoken against it. Just because it happened within Bangladesh, it doesn’t mean india has to keep quiet. During the BLM protest.s, didn’t all players of all countries, including India stupidly took a knee in protest.?

Also , to people who say that politics and sports should not be mixed, when Black people were persecuted in South Africa, all other countries bannedvSouth Africa with india doing it first. Nobody said that the issues happened only within South Africa and politics should not be mixed with sports. Even recently, when Australia refused to play against Afghanistan, in protest against  how women are treated in that country,  wasn’t that mixing of politics and sports.? just because Hindus are being burned,  it doesn’t become a political issue and nobody should speak against it. Only Hindus of the world face this kind of hypocrisy, even by fellow Indians.

lastly, it is MI team owners of South African cricket league that has hired Shakib. India or IPL governing

council or BCCI doesn’t have any jurisdiction or control over the South African cricket league. It is KKR IPL team that has hired a Bangladeshi  player and because of the SM outrage after Deepu Das Gupta was burnt and no action was taken by the government to catch the perpetrators, IPL has asked KKR to drop the do-kodi ka kanglu player.

Whole handshake shenanigan started after social media outrage. Who the f*** is this social media? One guy can have multiple ids and create a perception whole INdia is outraged. How dumb are these morons to react to social media?  They are letting social media control government.  Every narrative is set there. That too after Twitter introduced subscription, monetization false propaganda has skyrocketed.  There are not enough people who are botheed to give counter narrative. But these negative narratives get easy impression. They make money of it. Infact most pakistanis pretend to be Hindus and spread these things. Our government is acting based on that. How the heck we know these "social media" reactions are actual reactions of public. Common people have better things to do in their lives than reacting to Fiz selection,  Handsake of SKY.

Yeah, am not talking about if this is right or wrong and if people has no right to protest or people should be killed for believing in wtv they want to. You are taking it out of context. My point is, stuff like this happens in India too, to muslims - let's not brush it under the carpet (just for an FYI am not religious and don't care about muslim/hindu/etc- believe in wtv god you want - just pointing out the hypocrisy). I don't see you guys rioting about it. I mentioned previously where I was sh*tting on the palestine protestors - no one came out to defend them. Stay consistent with your riot and your POV or don't. That's all (respectfully ofcourse).

I am all for politics not getting into sports. I ever liked it (you will see plenty of my previous comments against this), regardless of BLM, Palestine, etc. Most of us watches a specific sport to runaway from politics or have bragging rights about my team is better than yours, etc. Basically run away from real world problem to get some sense of joy. It's like each time I come to this forum for cricket, all I see most guys discuss about is politics. Why this people are bad, that country is this, etc. Isn't there a sub-section here for that or reddit? A thread whenever and whatever topic is opened, diverts towards politics all the time, cricket is discussed very little here these days. It wasn't like this before.

Also regarding this: "it is MI team owners of South African cricket league that has hired Shakib. India or IPL governing council or BCCI doesn’t have any jurisdiction or control over the South African cricket league" - sure, you're right. But why not direct your anger towards the MI franchise owner, who is an INDIAN, represending the MI brand. Same way was done towards the KKR Franchise. BCCI didn't just ask KKR to drop a player just because - it's because of crowds anger. As you can see, consistency has left the building.

Anyways tired of all these political nonsense on a cricket forum. I've given my 2 cent about this plenty, don't feel like dragging this any further. If you feel like responding, go for it, but I won't be responding back anymore regarding this topic (sorry).

People have confirmation bias. As long as it aligns with their ideas they support. If it doesn't they find reasons. Does a common man care about what happens in Bangladesh? Does he have to ? Answer is no. I don't see anyone outside social media couldn't give a flying walenda about what is happening in BD. Heck they don't even care what is happening in the next town let alone another country. That is not the priority of common man. For them opportunity to survive, good infrastructure, uninterrupted utility services, good medical system, good transportation, food.  India is a country with diverse culture with diverse problem. One government is nto enough to bring everyone toether and address it. When we have boat load of problems in our country worrying about a failed government like Bangladesh is frankly stupid and time wasting. It is as if everything hunky dory in India.

First up, you are doing a false equivalence of some perceived atrocities or Muslims in India versus what happens to Hindu’s in Bangladesh. Muslims in India have grown in percentage of population compared to what happened  to Hindus in Bangladesh. There is no genocidal narrative on Muslim persecution in India, so don’t do a false equivalence of some anecdotal or individual news items of atrocities on Muslims in india . The two things are different like apples and oranges. Muslims are in no definition a minority in India, they are 18 to 20% of population, the second most majority community. In Bangladesh and in Pakistan Hindus are in minority to less than 2% in Pakistan and less than 8% in Bangladesh.  If a Muslim gets lynched  in India, all the criminals who did it have been arrested and taken care of by the law, unlike in Bangladesh when a Hindu gets burnt alive and gets  captured live media, nobody gets punished. That is the facking difference.

Secondly, MI is becoming like a global brand like Microsoft or Google to attach to a specific nationality , so you can’t accuse them to have political affiliations. If KKR owners buy Pakistani player in the Caribbean league, it is less of an issue, although it becomes an issue in india, but it’s not like a KKRIPL team inducting a Pakistani player.

lastly, sports is soft power just like movies. It is not just for fun and entertainment, it has always been setting relative in nations on geopolitics, so you cannot isolate politics from sport.

You are not a common man as it is evident from your posting here on this form. We cannot speak for all common men in India. You willl be  surprised how much of social media penetration is in India even in rural areas. Most of them have access to WhatsApp and YouTube. They see reels or videos and make opinions. We don’t know if they care about Hindus in Bangladesh or not, unless that is a large. Spread research or a referendum. Not all common man is a rickshaw puller  in India.

This is unprovable given the diverse nature of our country. I am saying this basically after observing several patterns of these posts. Messaging. How repeated these are.  Exact same message from 10 different accounts without any change cannot be called as "All Indians think the same". Reach is there. IT is unbelievable common man worry about Bangladesh issue rather than EMI, Job, housing, work, family, kids.  There are paid services to increase your follower count. Create bots. You will think like it is coming from 1 00s of people.

Yes, you can say that about Twitter followers in India. YouTube   andWhatsApp has a lot of users. And it is hard to track what kind of news they follow in general. Obviously Bangladesh will not top domestic issues and needs. Especially on YouTube. There are so many podcast influencers talking about how to teach Bangladesh lesson with all kinds of abuse laid on them like this one.

Not sure I support this. What is the fault of Mustafizur in all of this? Why should an individual be held responsible for what is happening in his country? If anything, blame should go to KKR management who picked him in the first place. Now once they did, ditching him in last minute shows only poorly on us. I am afraid too much politics has entered in cricket now and why it is no longer an enjoyable sport for me.

Its not his fault but its not safe for him to be in India. The thorough assessment by his cricket board would agree.

Dunno man, maybe resident legal expert @Mariyam can chime in.

Not aware of the exact details of the contract.

My understating is that the salaries are insured. The start off day would be joining training camp.

The BD cricketer in question can go to the CAS. The India BD equation is fluid. Could settle down in 6 months or a year.  it’s not like India Pak. That means that the cricketer may not want to go down that route. Read in the news that BCB has withdrawn the NOC it gave this guy to play in India. Means his case is even weaker if it is compensation he seeks.
