Gollum Posted February 7 Posted February 7 2 hours ago, New guy said: At least they put the money to good use I don't understand why people want to defend anything India. if cities of countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Lanka, Kazakhstan look world class compared to our tier 1 cities, shouldn't we introspect? And demand better standards? I simply detest this whataboutery culture. We are being taken for a ride by all political parties, and still want to spout vishwaguru BS. People should open their eyes, and if possible, make a few foreign trips (not even Paris, London, NY, woh toh mission impossible hai for us to emulate) !!!! They can see for themselves our pitiable plight. New guy, zaqw222222 and Sgattick10 3

Indians will continue to lord it over failed military dictatorships like PAK and even dirtier countries like Bangladesh and think it's a major flex. Sri Lanka is far more liveable than India will be, forget about South East and East Asia. New guy and Lone Wolf 2
cowboysfan Posted February 7 Posted February 7 ICC is trying the even the playing field by not producing pattas,i approve but these pitches dont favor us at all.hopefully we can calibrate our totals and not throw away wickets early.

Literally Indians have been scammed all these years.. you can see industrialisation happening and top shelf infrastructure in the making. Sri Lanka's roads and cleanliness mogs our tier 1 cities brutally. They mog us in all those social indices it is embarrassing to even look at. Nikhil_cric 1

Vietnam is basically just a rerouting hub for Chong manufactured goods that is not even a very complex economy if you go into even the first layer of granular data. Yes they get bigged up a lot by ignorant SM hacks who peddle the same woe ie us story for clicks which keep getting lapped up and receive algorithmic boosts. Their growth has been consistently lower than us in the post Covid yrs btw. SL can boast of all the impressive HDI indices while still taking help from its 'far less livable Neighbor' up north without whom they cannot even hope to eat properly. Achar dalo us Chong infra aur HDI ka lol. Economy with nothing except tourism and a population who can't wait to migrate abroad any which way even more than India. India has 10× the workforce than Vietnam and much lower labour costs and yet Vietnam attracted $96B in foreign investment than India's $85B Samsung literally moved 50 percent of its global production to Vietnam alone. Nike is shipping products from Vietnam at a much much..faster rate than India. Vietnam's infrastructure and port access and streamlined customs have made it a far more attractive destination than India. No power cuts, great roads & easy access to multiple ports. They are just winning us from there. Corruption in Vietnam is also kinda similar to India (maybe not that rampant)

Corruption in Vietnam is also kinda similar to India (maybe not that rampant) The Semiconductor Leap (Beyond Assembly) Vietnam is a global leader in electronics assembly, but it is still working on its first domestic fab. India, via the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), has moved into high-end fabrication and indigenous design. Manufacturing Momentum, 10 semiconductor units have been approved with a total investment of ₹1.60 lakh crore (~$19.5 billion). The First Chip Milestone In August 2025, India’s first end-to-end OSAT (Assembly/Testing) plant in Sanand, Gujarat, began operations. Commercial production from giants like Micron and Tata Electronics is slated for 2026. Budget 2026,recently announced the second phase of the mission, focusing on raw materials, equipment, and rare earth corridors, reducing dependence on China for the ingredients of chips. indegeneously designed, India unveiled its first homegrown 32-bit processor (Vikram) in late 2025, designed specifically for space and defense applications. Electronics, from 7th to 2nd Largest Export While the "eye-opener" in Saigon is the scale of their factories, India’s growth rate in this sector is now outstripping most neighbors. Exports, Electronics has jumped from India’s 7th largest export category (2022) to its 2nd largest export in FY2026, crossing $22 billion in just the first nine months of the fiscal year. Mobile Phones, India’s mobile manufacturing grew from $2.8 billion in 2015 to $64 billion in 2025. We are no longer just screwing parts together domestic value addition is rising steadily Unlike Sri Lanka or Vietnam, India is leveraging its geography to build a full-stack supply chain. Rare Earth Corridors,Budget 2026 introduced dedicated corridors in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Odisha to mine and process minerals like Lithium and Cobalt This ensures that India’s EV and semiconductor industries aren't held hostage by global supply shocks, a level of strategic autonomy smaller nations often struggle to achieve

Corruption in Vietnam is also kinda similar to India (maybe not that rampant) Lot of Vietnamese companies are actually owned by Chinese but even in the one eg you are talking about forgetting Samsung our mobile phone exports have overtaken theirs despite us being big importers not 5 yrs back. And despite all the other regulatory issues we have. On the ECI index we blow them out of the water and have grown more in the past half a decade among developing economies. If you see the rise in exports to US past 5 yrs it's all rerouting of Chini goods basically after Trump 1. Other points re a babudom that don't handicap them and a democratic set up that doesn't impede swift execution of projects all hold good which we are only just addressing now. Our economy is very different from theirs and we don't compete in the same verticals necessarily to do an unfavorable and loaded like for like comparison. You compare post pandemic GDP growth rate too we are higher consistently. Vietnam story is the new Bangladesh one atm where everyone was giving an edgy take that we should learn from them not understanding that Kanglus whole chaddi banyan industry only existed because of cheap Indian cotton and favorable policy re shipping which made them a textile hub.
