kepler37b Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I see that MOST of you are in gora lands. Any of you planning to return?
BacktoCricaddict Posted February 19 Posted February 19 No. Timing is everything. As I was finishing my PhD, I applied for multiple jobs in India. None of them panned out. No point being "Trishanku." So decided to put my roots here and never looked back or thought of returning. Love aspects of my Janmabhoomi India (food, music, cricket), but also very much enjoy life here in small-town America - my Karmabhoomi. My grandfather must have felt the same way when he moved from Palakkad to shift to Calcutta for work and raise a family there, as he became absorbed into Bengali life while maintaining his Palakkad Iyer identity. randomGuy, singhvivek141, EnterTheVoid and 2 others 2 3
FischerTal Posted February 20 Posted February 20 absolutely. im looking to move back to Ahmedabad or Mumbai as a second option. tbh Mumbai is more cosmopolitan so I would feel more comfortable there. I dont like it here in America at all but constrained due to some work reasons. Life in America is an extremely lonely experience. I had to go through this misery because my parents moved here when I was 8. I wont make the same mistake for my children. randomGuy and singhvivek141 1 1
coffee_rules Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Going by recent news about UGC guidelines and OBC politics, every political party is the same. While BJP seems to be slow Poison, Congress and opposition is like. Cyanide for GC. Mera kehna mano, aap bhi jaldi khisaklo before it is too late. Sorry to be so blunt, getting too cynical these days. Lone Wolf and Lord 1 1

Add to that defence minister, foreign minister, home minister, finance minister etc etc.
FischerTal Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Indians in America are the most delusionary people to exist. They are hated by the Palestine supporting woke LGBTQ Democrats and the White nationalist MAGA racists. Still, they will believe that America harbors a place for them. They were always imported to exist as IT coolies and provide healthcare services in far-flung areas where American doctors dont want to go. Trump ke ane baad aukaat pata chal gayi. Already the H-!B pipeline is ending and now with the proliferation of AI, doctors job wlill be taken over in a matter of 1-2 decades. singhvivek141 and randomGuy 2

I fully support them in this endeavour. Absolute visionaries.

And if some adult wants to settle abroad, should the parents(in this case GC CMs and cabinet ministers) stop them? )do you think the future plight of GCs is the reason why Yogi didn't get married and have kids?
EnterTheVoid Posted February 20 Posted February 20 It's the basics that are still missing. Lack of clean air, civic sense etc. It's just too much of a hit and miss, there is no middle ground that is steady and consistent. Lord and randomGuy 1 1

There was an X post which had all of these leaders having their kids settled/studying in abroad... It had crazy engagement. Can't seem to find it now. Baaki you can spin it as much as you like but the fact is GC's will continue to leave this country. There is no merit left. It's a blue land now. Policies are/will be designed to their benefit as this is where the actual votebank is. Edited February 20 by Lone Wolf

EnterTheVoid Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Indian Civic Fails on Reddit is such a depressing read. You have people littering when there is a bin a few metres away. Shameful to see foreigners picking up rubbish and cleaning areas we should be keeping clean ourselves. Stan AF 1

But need to find a new purpose. Planning many things. Let's see how it goes.

Go to mumbai ONLY if you have a >10Cr ancestral property. Else not worth it.
