Coaching matters, look how Jayasurya has turned SL and Sammy WI. Players are same for both teams WI or SL did not get any new players.

Remove Gambhir and his idiotic thinking.Team instantly gets better in all formats

This. Also Gambhir doesn't seem to have the ability to seperate players by format , also seems to have favourites, not sure what that does to the morale of the team. Having said that we have to be realistic about our weakness

1. Lack of ability to play spin which means we struggle on turning tracks something that was our strength

2. Lack of high quality spin bowlers who are strong mentally as well

3. Lack of pace bowlers to support Bumrah (the likes of Siraj blow hot and cold)

4. Finally a team that has an atrocious record of catching with the likes of Kuldeep and Sundar who are weak fielders irrespective of position

I have not included a lack of ability to play in swinging conditions because that has been a perennial problem and continues with this lot.

Added to this is a lack of intent to give a chance to players who do well in Ranji but who may not shine in IPL, this hampers us especially in tests.

The only positive in the last few years has been the hitting ability of some of our T20 players and even that has been exposed. Not sure if the current dispensation is bothered about where we are

Every team has issues, no team is contending to be ATG team.

But problem with Gambhir is he is dragging the team down with his divisive tactics. He and that idiot Agarakar have ruined Indian team in all formats.

Sure agree with you, I think we are saying the same thing, and even ATG will have weakness and lose matches but there are some aspects here which have been our strength and some where we were showing improvement with previous dispensation. This could ofcourse be only a personnel issue or something else as well(we won't know until we change) but a refusal to acknowledge this and trying the same thing with same personnel makes it a management failure in my book

GG is not a coach, the arrogance with which he talks to the press, imagine how he talks to players when he disagrees with them. GG has been the worst decision for Indian cricket.

The suprising part is how he has clung on despite whitewashes against NZ and SA and the debacle of Aus tour. Any one of them should have been enough to fire this guy. BCCI babus being as apathetic as usual, the current lot of administrators, selectors and back room staff have to rank as the worst in our history, they are parasites only interested in sucking money from the game

Gambhir inadvertently ruined the confidence career of few players by making them play in wrong formats

Sundar in ODIs/T20s - misfit

Sai Sudarshan in Tests - massive misfit

Iyer/Jaiswal/Ruturaj sidelining from LOI set up - massive missstep

Then that Harshit Rana experiment across the formats. Another BS move. He consistently sidelined Arshdeep for a while.

There is no accountability or responsibility.

Legitimate questions are not answered at press conferences.

Sky grins like an idiot.

Gill never attends as always injured.

Gambhir sends his flunkies.

Whole setup reeks of failure.

Gambhir wants batsman at 8 irrespective of format. I feel its fine for T20 but you need proper 4 bowlers in test and odi. T20 we will always be fine. What's the worst case here we don't reach semis , it's fine we have likes of jaiswal waiting for an opportunity.

Test is where we should be worried

India has to look for hard hitting all rounders in the back end.  Apart from Anukul ROy i don't know anyone in this list. If he is good can we not try? He has hit 18 sixes. Also Jakhar looks okay. THey may be hacks. I have not seen enough of any of the other guys. But would like to know if there is anyone that are worth investing in?

Anukul has been good this season,Jakhar is hard hitting but is a bonafide trundler

Prashant Veer  bowls left arm spin with CSK ,

Ramkrishna Ghosh seam AR,also CSK known for hard hitting, is sharp(low chance of him to play especially on those slow Chepauk decks)

This IPL will tell you more about them

How ready or whether they belong in international cricket or not  time will tell

India has to stop selecting test players from IPL. Guys like Smaran may never become a great T20 batsman. But he can be a very good test batsman.

forget Smaran all our Test selections should be based only on Ranji success, that has to be a hard and fast rule.

Correct, also adopt flexibility and retain people like Mayank for home tests for their spin playing prowess. I feel that we should invest in tests specialists and pay them enough so that lack of IPL money doesn't worry them
