Abhishek isn't India's biggest problem. We have a strong enough batting lineup to account for his failures. SKY coming in at 4 is India's biggest batting problem.

Under-rated problem lol

NZ has 2 off-spinners so the "bonus" would be in single digit. better to replace him with someone who's a much better fielder and likely to score more at the death.

At this moment TM thinks Rinku has no role in batting order with Dubey-Pandya doing their job at lower order. They are just hoping that Abhishek will click at some point and has wasted 7-8 matches on him. The problem is we didn't pick any other top order batter in our 15, If we had Jaiswal/Iyer on bench, Abhishek would have been booted out after three ducks. Final will be his final opportunity, if he fails and If India loses that day, We may see Jaiswal or Vaibhav taking his place after wt20. Right now expectations are so low that even 15 ball 25 from Abhishek will be appreciated.

If Abhishek gets set , india are on cruise mode straight to the finish.

It was the same with him in IPL.

His sickness came at the wrong time and derailed his form.

Taking the risks is ok as well, it's the total lack of basic understanding. How can you loft a spinner to the only deep fielder every other game? If you want to take risk, hit in the area which is un-protected or invent new shots or find new scoring areas. Try sweep, try using your feet to hit straight. But nope, he feebly hits a weak lofted shot in the direction of the deep fielder!

I simply can't wrap my head around what's going on with him or whether he even knows where the deep fielders are positioned? Total lack of understanding of the game or match situation. Playing Abhishek is like gift wrapping a wicket at the start of the innings.

I dont really want to change the team or compromise batting depth. But Abhishek is free wicket right now. So it doesnt matter.

Varun's confidence has taken a hit too.

We have twin problems.

Rinku can come in for Abhishek but then bowling problem remains.

Naah, then Tilak has to play up top and his spin issues surface.

Doing a real good job killing pace at the death.

It will be stupid move, why ruin Kishen's spot.He is picking up the slack and providing the impetus after early wicket.

Rohit Sharma's losing 2022 innings of 27 of 28 deliveries screw teams more, just like Shai hope innings screwed WI here.Rahane's losing innings in 2014. Those are more dangerous to the teams.

If he clicks he will win match on his own, what is the point in carrying 8 batsman. Leave him alone.

India place five bowlers and some bits and pieces like Dube Tilak or Abhishek. ATM, Varun is hurting more than Abhishek to team india and we have a talented replacement already warming up the bench in Kuldeep. I feel Abhishek will still play in the final and varun will  replaced by Kuldeep

Not happening. They'll stick to the same 11 unless there are injuries

This is quite possible more we think about it. Nobody changes the team for the final unless somebody’s not fit. If push comes to shove (pun only intended somebody in team practice will trip and make Varun fall and replace him with Kuldeep in the end.

It's not just a question of free wkt. The thing is when batters know they have more batting in the shed psychologically and mentally they're in a much better space to be aggressive. If they see they have a long tail, they change the way they bat. The batting depth does impact the batters play and we've seen that ourselves. Compare the results under Kohli as captain when we had longish tail compared to under Rohit and now where we went with batting depth.

We went from a decade of not winning anything to winning ICC trophies just by adding depth. I wouldn't want to change our approach and team philosophy just because bowling struggled at Wankhede on a flat pitch in a small ground. Let's go with what has worked for us and that is batting depth till 8.

I would take a 15 ball 25 from Abhishek in a heartbeat! But more likely we'll get a single digit score with a SR of 100.

He was expensive vs SA as well considering the start we got hence the concern. Not saying Abhishek isnt but varun is so critical to our campaign.

I see our top order a bigger worry. To me it looks like Varun is more likely to perform than Abhishek

Either we play the same team..  if we change, we likely have to address bowling too. Not sure what that change should be. Every option can be bad option. Be it Siraj,  Kuldeep or Sundar.

Sundar definitely does not belong to T20 but is the lone All rounder who can add 6th bowling option and no.8 option.

Samson

Kishan

Tilak

SKY

Dube

Pandya

Axar

Sundar

Varun

Arshdeep

Bumrah

Batting is too light. We can't compromise on our batting depth.

Both are. We've two walking wkts in the top 4. Unfortunately we can't do anything about SKY as he's the captain and that's why need to replace Abhishek at least.

Would you drop him or not.. can law of averages come-up and can he perform in the finals ....???

Dropping him brings in rinku and in all fairness rinku is not going to win the game but if Abhishek clicks he can.

The issue with Abhishek here is kind of found-out and there is no time for him to fix it. Teams are cutting down his off-side game but cutting down the room outside off.

There has to do something with playing him when not fully fit.

He may have lost the confidence in his shot making an ability to hit 6s. When your whole cricketing ability is about hitting 6s and suddenly you lose it, doubt creeps in.

Previously the balls he is getting out to right now by spinners he use to flat bat them over mid-off to mid-on for 6s.

He can change the stance and start it like how chanderpaul was facing legside to the spinner and try hitting them that way. But he has not done it till now he wont do it for the last game....

Henry is a new ball bowler. He can trouble even the test class player in T20. So Sanju vs Henry is going to play a big role. Atleast Abhishek should take strike against him and disturb his length.

Abhishek will come good, he is a match winner.
Going through hard times, but who doesn't. Still he doesn't waste balls and perishes while trying to attack.
Philips and McConchie are the challengers, but he has the game to overcome this battle.
