Nobody has time to watch Test cricket. This is Kerry Packer reinvented and that means ICC is replaced by IPL.

 

Even then I doubt players, franchises, and most importantly the audience would really care about Tests.

Nobody has the time nor does it have the commercial viability for a Test league. Maybe a friendly test match every now and then might be a novel concept.

if RCB played MI is a 4 day test - would the fans come? start with a one off test between last year's finalists as a curtain raiser.

It can work but cricket will no longer be played by national teams.Who will fund the teams.Will all boards agree, what happens to marquee series like Ashes.

An interesting and engaging podcast.

 

He is very passionate and made some great points about IPL and The Hundred.

 

 

He also made some remarks about the condition of stadiums in India about the below par fan experience, toilets and asthetics.

 

If he is still at the helm of affairs in the IPL he would have definitely made some great world class stadiums.

it was a great watch but NO IPL TEAM OWNERS will go after test cricket. No one in their right mind will watch Franchise test cricket. People barely watches country v country test cricket. Test cricket is a dying format kept alive with wtv help it can get. I don't even think ODI franchise cricket would do any better.

IMO it won't work like that, test format needs different set of players.

 

You cannot dive in  as one off curtain raiser match here and there.It serves no purpose.If they are serious then it has to be played like Packer WSC , a full five day match with red ball.

 

Test cricket when played against competitive teams is still the best format.
