Some (if not many) MI players could actually request to go back to auctions. As for GT, it has Holder if he can finally make his mark in IPL. GT would likely be better off getting someone like SKY. Rahul is probably the most abused cricketer on ICF and SM but still nothing justifies Goenka’s attitude towards him or any cricketers. These are not employees. Yes if someone is violating laws or not doing the basic things like fitness, discipline etc or maintaining a decorum it’s a different matter. he can’t hold players accountable for performance. If someone is out for 4 ducks or goes for 80 runs in 4 overs, it’s the coach etc problem, he can’t yell at them.

You are trying to standardize behaviour as if these owners are 9 to 5 workers who behave in predictable manner as they have to always impress someone. See how regular employees are treated at work in India. These guys are elites, having their own point of views, hiring 1,000 of people across various domains globally. Many of them being more important, shaping businesses and economies, than these players. Every owner has his own personality. And there is nothing wrong with it. If Trump owned an IPL team, he would bring his type of culture to the team. As for Goenka, I don’t think he means any harm. He probably thinks the team as an extension of his sporting goals and players as his proxies. He owns Mohun Bagan as well. Edited April 29 by zen
