But none of Bracewell's delivery was turning square (like murali). Ye mujhe exaggeration lag raha hai. (IMHO) Besides, my point is- when Iyer got out, it was still anybody's game. (50-50) We needed 77 from 66 balls. It's not as if Iyer left Ind in a winning position or something close. It was a complete team effort. Axar, KL also played well. Iyer did a fantastic job. Rohit played a brilliant knock and gave us a cushion when it came to RRR. But I too was pissed with Shreyas' dismissal in the final, and SF. This is what differentiates good batsmen like him from a legend like Kohli. Kohli assumes full responsibility and takes his team to the finish line. None of our youngsters has imbibed that quality.

Please recheck the match thread. When they got those 3 quick wickets, when Ro fell, all posters here had given up on the team. Every ball was an event from then till end of the match, and NZ fielding also put so much pressure. It was a very hard-earned victory. Lone Wolf and rollingstoned 2

He will probably find it difficult in RSA, Aus. So selectors should have an open mind. He was damn good in CT 25, big reason why we won, and deserved to be POTT. And his 23 SF 100 was an epic knock. Not every day you see someone score a 60 ball 100 against a top team in a WC SF. 340-350 was chaseable that day, it was Iyer who put the total beyond their reach. Rahul's knock was 39 not out in same semi final at higher SR. It was Rahul who had partnership with Kohli in the opening match against Australia hitting 97.After guess who got out for Duck . Rahul other than stinking it up in finals has been good at number 5 absorbing pressure. Rahul is mental case but to call Iyer more clutch than Rahul is flatout ridiculous. Frustrated 1
Norman Posted June 13 Posted June 13 It's amazing (and I hope I'm not jinxing) that we are yet to lose a single international game to Afghanistan yet. Closest they came was a draw in the 2018 Asia Cup when Jadeja had a brainfart and the super over sequence in one of the T20 bilaterals in 2024. 16 matches (not a small sample size at all) And not a single defeat against Afghanistan for us. We are the only full member nation that Afghanistan have still not won against. Ofcourse this will break one day and that too very soon especially in a random bilateral but it's amazing that we have been so ruthless against them Gollum 1
Suhaan Posted June 13 Posted June 13 People overhype Iyer here way too much Not even seen with Dhoni,Kohli or Rohit Iyer hasn't done anything remotely close to those 3 still gets God level treatment,it's funny to see actually Hope he gets kicked out of our T20 xi for he definitely makes it weaker Frustrated and New guy 1 1

Weight of history is against Rahul. 19 SF, 21 and 22 T20 WCs. Iyer has played just 2 ICC events.

Shami saved us, once again. What a gem he was.
Norman Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Some really dumb posts here. Have people really forgotten the Meek Depressed KL Era of 2019-2023? Or are they just pretending to ignore it to put Shreyas down? Lord and vvvslaxman 2

Yeah that game was a gonner when Nabi smacked Bumrah at the death and they needed 15 off 12 or something. Our batting was absolutely crap that day. Middle order (Shankar, Jadhav, Dhoni ) lived fully up to it's expectations after Kohli got out. Gollum 1
Gollum Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I can't take KL seriously after his first over maidens in 22 WC. Are you kidding me? He even played a maiden against Zimbabwe. Downplay Iyer all you want, but not by elevating KL who tortured us for so many years. rollingstoned and Lone Wolf 1 1
Lord Posted June 13 Posted June 13 People are seriously debating Iyer v Rahul? Norman, Gollum, Suhaan and 1 other 4
Gollum Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Absence of Jadeja makes this team so much more watchable. Remove Sundar as well, and Rohit. Lord, rollingstoned, Nikhil_cric and 1 other 4

I agree, Rahul has lot more failures and is proven failure under pressure. .But Iyer is too loose and casual for number 4 plus he has lot technical limitations which might get exposed in SA. People need to calm down on Iyer.I am still flabbergasted that he is made captain in t20s.I hope he does well.He has spunk in him. Edited June 13 by putrevus Frustrated, New guy and Gollum 3

Mayank was drafted into the squad after Dhawan got injured & I wanted him to play straightaway coz knew what was gonna happen with Kela Kela scored soft 80 odd runs in final league game against Lankans (his first 15-20 balls were sheer torture) and I knew he would fail on the big day at SF and it happened exactly how I thought it would be. He is utter garb*ge. Can't handle decent spin, can't handle short pitch medium pace stuff. Will get badly exposed in WC2027 in SA. Won't last 10 balls against any half decent side. No one (outside of Ind) really rates him as a batter.

Gollum Posted June 13 Posted June 13 12 minutes ago, Lord said: People are seriously debating Iyer v Rahul? Bigger problems in this ODI team. Sundar quietly escapes scrutiny yet again. One over, 19 runs. Is he playing as specialist batsman then? Because it is clear that TM/Gill don't see any bowling potential in him. He is Jadeja 2.0, without the fielding prowess. Absolute liability. Frustrated and Lord 2
