I doubt that encyclopedic knowledge about Majid Khan can be passed down so easily though. Has to be someone who watched cricket in 60s, 70s or whenever Majid Khan played

@Ultimate_Game To be fair to Majid Khan (and Harsh Thokar), Majid is the only batsman to score a century before lunch on day 1 between Bradman's feat in 1930 and Dave Warner's feat in 2017. It was 87 years of gap and only one instance it happened in test cricket. Must give credit where it is due.

Very surprising list. Was expecting to see Sehwag a few times in there. Probably the fact that these days the no. of overs team bowls in a session has reduced gradually over time played a big factor. Heard that earlier it wasn't uncommon for teams to bowl up to 40 overs in a session sometimes and 30 overs was a given. But in 2000s that no. reduced to early 20s to around 23-26. That drop in available overs in a session played a huge role in modern batters, especially Sehwag, not being represented on the list.

 

A more accurate way would be to track 100s based on no. of deliveries. In early days no. of balls wasn't tracked so that's why they went with the metric of 100 before a session but that's quite subjective as no. of overs bowed was inconsistent but no. of deliveries faced by an opener is a consistent and objective metric.

wow the run rates in that match are unimaginable for those times.. NZ too scored at 4.5 rpo withstanding Paks  tampered ball swing. Must be one of the flattest pitches ever played on.
