SKY as captain.   Matches: 20,  Lost: 4.  Iyer as captain.  Matches: 5,  Lost 4.    (1 NR)

Probably not as much to do with captain as it looks.

We have messed up the entire leg here. SKY was a decent captain but India looked on a roll then.. Players performed and made up for the Captain. Ireland/ENG series is a sad story right now.

If you look closely (or from far enough away) England’s score of 201 looks like T20I.

That statement of mine is as relevant as Iyer’s captaincy right now.

Yeah, nothing wrong with Iyer's captaincy.    His last 14 matches as captain (incl IPL & intl) reads: L L L L L L L L L L NR L L L.

Captaincy is relatively overrated in T20s. Need to do away with fixed captaincy. The coach can appoint someone on the day (on rotation basis) to carry out instructions and plans.

And BCCI chief can appoint coach of the day

hahaha, but you need the coach on overseas tour. We know coaches (unless you are Dhoni) run the T20 game from behind the scenes.

No they don't. Rohit ran the show when we won the WT20 2024.

Even in IPL RCB's fortunes changed when they changed captain

It depends on the team. A captain cannot it change fortunes esp. in a short format like T20s.

On the other hand, a bad instinctive move or a player blocking a slot because he is the captain can hurt a team more.

You still need a team.RCB changed their captain to FAF, what did he win.

It is different here the captain has destroyed the team by becoming the captain.Remove him team becomes better instantly.

Faf was not great captain too and didn't even deserve a place.

Neither can a coach tbh. Conditions matter too.

Same team under Iyer only will play much better in India

No captain was winning with that unbalanced team. If Kohli has current RCB team he would have won too.

Which is why the need to remove fixed captaincy. As it does not give automatic spot to the captain, keeping options open for the best person to lead on the day.

In this team - Kishan, Samson (if in the squad), Axar, etc., can all captain. We do not need to create a fixed spot for the captain.

A captain can 100% change fortunes by disrupting a team and causing insecurity, etc. We literally saw this exact template with MI too.
