I just want to know why did the team management break apart our top order which helped us win the World Cup just few months ago.

Samson was in and out of the team iirc. Abhishek was struggling. Only Kishan was doing relatively well. Once Samson returned, he played some amazing knocks to win India the tournament. Abhishek clicked in the final. And when a new talented player emerges, teams tend to make space. Nothing is permanent. Edited July 9 by zen BacktoCricaddict 1

If new talent emerges, teams make space for such talent. I think the more relevant question is why are likes of Iyer, Tilak, Dube (can’t bowl much), etc., in the T20 team. They may click in Asia but overseas, they may have question marks.

There was no need to rush VS to play all games either. Let him ease into the set up instead of overwhelming him. He is barely familiar with conditions outside the subcontinent.

He is there to provide quick starts or get out doing that. PS if not VS, these guys would have played someone like Pribhsimran. So in a way, VS is saving the team from such picks and making it somewhat watchable. Who watches T20 for Iyer, Tilak, Pribhsimran, etc. (they are okay in IPL as there are 10 teams to accommodate various Indian players). Edited July 9 by zen Vk1 and Need4Speed 2

How many chances were given to Rohit Sharma..when he was in twenties..and you are talking about a mid teen kid.. Some agressive shots if dont come out well look like a hack.. Just need to look for hitting more boundaries first and dont think about hitting big sixes and end up overhitting..part of learning curve..good for his experience

If the team is over dependent on a new comer, it only shows how bad Iyer, Tilak, Dube, etc., are outside home type familiar conditions. Need4Speed 1

The way our bowling is and can easily concede 200 to English every time.and sluggish our Middle Order is.. there is no respite for our top order..they have to be agressive to make up for all that..

Sure, but the noise from media and this forum to play him right away and conspiracy theories that there is a deliberate attempt to keep him out were nonsense

Here we even have comical threads during IPL where people pick India squads, and some even rooted for Iyer has captain.

Or it might be because they wanted the kid to get a chance. He will deliver.
jf1gp_1 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 (edited) At no point in time since introduction of social media have we not have a hype of some player or the other. I think we just forgot all the hype around Abhishek Sharma. Under Gambhir we have either looked champs or novice. People are dumb if they think belters, pulled in ropes, inability to play spin even on belters wasn't going to come and bite us Edited July 10 by jf1gp_1

DeepSpace Posted July 10 Posted July 10 This is what I was saying. He would be found out on SENA pitches. On pattas he was king.

The pull shot that caused his dismissal happened in India as well. It is a problem of shot selection. You gotta give a few balls to their best bowlers. Even at u19 level he got out a few times to that particular delivery. It is not the pitch. It is just that every single ball they bowl to him is at arm pit. Also he tries to over hit Archer compared to Tongue. He wants to win the battle against him.

Well in that case all of them have been found out..English openers too.. Salt have been lucky too survive initial spells in last couplebof matches and then went on too make good runs
