A lot of Punjabi folk songs revolve around Sufi saints. That usage might have crept into daily language also, irrespective of the religion of the speaker. For instance, Gurdas Mann's challa also has references to 'Allah'. There are many more such instances. Probably a native Punjabi speaker can explain it better than I.
