PBN Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I want to build muscle, particularly shoulders. But don't wanna join gym. Any ideas? get some free weights i.e dumbbells, bar and check out some shoulder exercises but it's better to work on the whole body as a whole. perhaps focus on ur shoulders for the time being. form is really important so do do the exercises properly to avoid injury. a quick search gives this video for a start : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQiPdthOPxw]6 best shoulder exercises with free weight - YouTube[/ame] join http://forum.bodybuilding.com/ and ask there

Straight Drive Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I played a 40 overs match some time back and i am glad i survived it with just 3 drinks breaks (3 glasses of water) coming in that heat. Due to rains the nets are closed for few months. I find gym sessions in AC fitness centre to be nothing as compared to a 40 or a 50 over cricket match played in 35 degrees C. Unable to attend gym recently due to more work and other time constraints. I doubt i can sustain a 40 overs match very soon but 2 weeks in gym and i shall be back to normal sessions. At this age and looking forward i am concentrating more on decades of fitness rather than muscle building. Looking to get fit for next 40 or 50 overs match.
Holysmoke Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 So I had lost a lot of weight a few years ago. 26 kgs to be precise. Then I went back to school for my MBA. Eating the dorm food was freshman 15 all over again. Also, living in a different countries and work pressure made me just give up trying to be fit. Went back the US after 5 years and went nuts on food and alcohol. So I gained back part of that weight.. Now I'm back in India, and have started my workout + diet again. I eat normally, just dont try to overeat and try to consume less sugar and refined flour. But I go nuts at the gym. 800-1000 calories on a good day, 500 minimum, even on a bad day. My aim is to lose 1kg per week, or 15 kg before the start of november. 8kg done.
Straight Drive Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I want to build muscle, particularly shoulders. But don't wanna join gym. Any ideas? Shrugs using Dumbbells got me strong shoulders as well as nice tapering shape of the collar bone. You can also try Dumbbell shoulder press. Both these exercises can be done at home. I also did Barbell pulley pulldown, but then you would need to enroll in gym for that.
rkt.india Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I gained about 2 kilos of weight in the last 20 odd days. Was down to 79 from 92 after working hard for 3 months, only aerobics, my thyroid dose is now half for last 50 odd days. One reason, it might have an effect on TSH level that lead to a bit of gain in weight or second, since I am doing weight exercises for last 40 odd days, it might be muscle weight that has increased. I can see about 1 inch of gain in my biceps. Can anyone shed some light?

I found myself to be same weight, 92 when I weighed myself last month. Since then I have been in a bit of trauma. I want to bring it back to early 80's which would be right for my height 6'2". Around a month ago, I twisted and sprained my ankle while playing Tennis and since then I couldn't do any physical activity other than walking so I couldn't do any exercise as well.

I weight on March 23 at 92.5 for me I was about 20 kilo overweight. I started thyroid meds from April 1 along with that made a diet plan low calorie foods with no sugar and oil means low fat and low carb. corn flakes in the morning, fruits in between if needed then lunch and then masala oats for dinner. Also started working out 40-60 minutes 5 times a week, no weights only cardio like skipping, jumping, etc. In about 3 months, I came down to 79, still needed to lose 6-7 kilo, though all extra weight isn't all fat because I have done weight training in the past so I have a lot of muscle mass. Now I gained 2 kilos back and I am doing weight training for last 40 days.

If you didn't have that issue I would suggest going by other measures and not just weight in kiols to look at your fitness. Obviously 92 was overweight but 1 or 2 kilos gain can just be muscle gain. It happens to me too that sometimes when I am leaner and fitter I weigh a little more or remain the same vs. losing any.
