I don't think you can blame Gauti and Dravid too much for being defensive with new ball they wanted to see the new ball off they almost did Steyn was out of attack , One thing this team has done in last two years unlike past Indian teams this team has come back well from difficult positions and showed lot of resilience. Time for bowlers to bail out Batsmen for a change.

It's not going to be easy for SA either. Early start tomorrow, if there is any rain overnight, batting in the pre lunch session could get equally difficult as it was today. And as the OP says damp wickets tend to get nastier as the play progresses. So its not all lost yet.

Yep for me, the bhajji's wicket wsa the most annoying and frustrating. He was looking good and could have scored a 50 in another 7-8 overs along with Dhoni, but that wasn't to be. A silly runout or an unlucky runout, whatever you want to call. dAY 1 without any doubts is of RSA. Day 2, should be ours if we both close to what ssouth africa was bowling today. I don't think pitch can change that much that south african batsmans would find very easy. Morkel, the way he was bowling, was very simple. Just keeping it at the rite spot and then discomforting the batsman. More impressive than styen for me today.

i still have hope in this test,our batsmen were tested but so will the saffers.the bowlers have to bowl brilliantly though for us to even think about a win.

I'm not praying for rain. I want to see the match thats why I was asking about the rain forecast for tomorrow. Hopefully it won't rain and Indian bowlers will bowl well.

2006 Sabina Park - if that's how the wicket is, we're surely in this game. Fingers crossed at the moment, not sure how our bowlers will perform in Zak's absence.

Too disappointed to even think straight. But the one thought that keeps coming back is how heavy a price we are going to pay fo 30 overs of some careless batting, good bowling, a juicy pitch and rotten luck with the toss. Its frustrating to think we have waited this long, come this far, only to be set back by 2 hours of cricket. I think this pitch will flatten out considerably once the sun starts shining, which cruelly, is predicted to happen in the next two days. There's no way we should have ended play at 135/9, no way. Of course, every one knew that there was going to life in the pitch and a battle in the hands of the top-order, but at worst, we shouldnt have lost more than 3-4 wickets. Without a shadow of doubt, the turning point of the day was Sachin's wicket. By and large, he looekd completely at ease and seemed the only batsmen who had figured out how to negotiate the conditions and bowling. But every Sachin fan knows how much he HATES interruptions in play. And when play was suspended for nearly 5-6 mins to sort out the foot-holes issues, you hoped that it wouldnt affect his play. If he had been there, I have no doubt that we would have mustered at least 280-300 runs.. Alas... A lot of things have to go right for us to even contemplate a comeback in this match. I doubt if probability is going to be kind to us.

^well finey, if you dig up you will find many such instances.. This is test cricket and you are bound to collapse, happens to best of the best. Now great teams come back from this situation and atleast fight hard. I just want our bowlers to go out and enjoy themselves. For some time now they have been complaining about flat wickets....Well Sree, Ishant and Undakat this is your chance, you may not get another such wicket for some time...

exactly... True, we played some mediocre cricket against some excellent bowling. but its still not a lost cause. COME ON TEAM INDIA... FIGHT!
