zep1706 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I have a policy of not selecting players that I haven't seen live, highlights and stats just don't do it for me. So this is from the period that I have followed(since 1996 WC) ODIs SRT Gilly(wk) Ponting Lara Kallis Sanath Dhoni© Wasim Waqar Muruli McGrath
jalebi_bhai Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 ODIs: Sachin Tendulkar Matthem Hayden Viv Richards Michael Hussey Andrew Symonds MS Dhoni © (Wk) Lance Klusener Wasim Akram Brett Lee Muttiah Muralitharan Glenn McGrath
maniac Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Here is my X1 Sachin(Greatest ODI bat ever,Handy with the ball) Jayasuriya(Left right Combo,Attacking game changing player,Also 300+ ODI wickets to boot-Backup Gilly) Ponting(2nd best ODI bat of all time,Brilliant fielder) Steve Waugh©(Crisis man and captain of my team,Thrives in Back to the wall situations,Can be handy with the ball) Mike Hussey(One of the finest finishers in the game-Backup would be Bevan but 1st choice Hussey as Bevan against fast bowling has always been suspect) MSD(Since I have Jaya instead of Gilly,I went with MSD as my keeper. If my keeper slot was taken up by Gilly,I would have opted for Kapil Paaji or Kallis in this slot) Chris Cairns(I think Chris Cairns was an overall better bat/bowler than Klusener having said that lance is my backup) Wasim Akram(Arguably greatest fast bowler of all time-Handy with the bat in slog overs-Back up Fannie Devillers-In case of injury to Wasim that would be my guy) Saqlain(Finest ODI offspinenr of all time-Backup Murali) Kumble(Just for variety as a Legspinner would round up my team-Back up warne-His ODI skills are underrated too) Donald(Genuine pace is important in LOI's-might go for some runs but can rattle opponents equally too-Backup-Shoaib Akthar)

Sooda Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 S Tendulkar M Waugh R Ponting J Kallis V Richards M Hussey M S Dhoni W Akram S Warne G McGrath J Garner Tendulkar and Richards picks themselves, M Waugh edges out Ganguly being a much better fielder and can bowl. Cant think of too many better options than Ponting to complete top order. Kallis is a bit of left field one but Ive gone for balance and in a XI of stroke players he can be a great anchor, allowing Punter and Viv to do their damage. Hussey edges Bevan out as Maniac says hes a better bat and capable of bigger hitting. Even if watching Bevan and MSD scamper singles will be awesome. The team has batsmen bowlers- Kallis of course and also Viv, Waugh and Tendulkar so Kapil and Klusener just miss out. The bowling has three lethal and totally different pace threats in the form of Wasim and Garner with new ball and McGrath as third seamer, with Kallis to support. Warne edges out Saqi and Murali being a leggie with two part time offies in the team, his cricketing brain would be useful. Fields decently too- slip cordon of Kallis/Waugh/Warne. Punter and Viv prowling about...MSD to captain and Warne to vice captain. Arguably a bit batting heavy..
Manny_Pacquiao Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 tendulkar - 44.83 - first name i thought of ganguly - 41.02 - the other half of the best opening combo ever. 22 tons kohli - 48.64 - one of the best chasers ever at the age of 24, career moving at record setting pace. you'll put him here eventually, so might as well do it now. dravid - 39.16 - seriously underrated ODI batsman. great partnership builder. yuvraj - 37.00 - big hitter. great chaser. big match player. dhoni - 51.45 - second name i thought of klusener - 41.10 w/bat, 29.95 w/ball - a freak. perfect number 7. warne - 25.73 - best ODI spinner ever. can defend anything donald - 21.78. another freak. mcgrath - 22.02. clutch. bond - 20.88. the rest of you losers will have your batting lineups packed with aussies, and this guy is my aussie killer. game over. my team is the best, i win. bonus points for an all indian batting lineup...:isalute::isalute::isalute: frankly, u only need 2 batsmen. tendulkar, dhoni. **** the rest. play the pakistan's womens team around those 2 and you would still put big runs on the board.

King Tendulkar Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 1 SRT 2 Gilly 3 Viv Richards 4 Ponting 5 Bevan 6 Dhoni 7 Dev 8 Marshall 9 Warne 10 Mcgrath 11 Ambrose No one can beat this team. Every player here would be contender for all time test team apart from Dhoni and Bevan. Team for all conditions anywere in world The seam attack would be relentless, crazy. No team would score over 150 against it.

Muloghonto Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 i honestly cannot see how Lara, Wasim & Waqar can be left out of an alltime ODI XI. One is the best #4 the world has ever seen. The other is a 500 wicket taker with an economy to die for while offering the left armer's variety. The last one has one of the highest wicket/match ratios with the highest 4+ wicket per match rate.
