The problem with not using hawk eye is we'd also lose the pitch mat apart from the predictive element. With most of the referred decisions revolving around lbw, not having the pitch mat would turn DRS into a farce.

Though I don't personally care much about the fancy predictive ball tracking and the frilly graphics where the bails fall and everyone clap their hands in glee, I pretty much would like to see the pitch mat to check if the ball pitched outside leg or if the impact was outside off stump.

I think broadcasters can provide their own pitch mat and not rely on hawk eye for it. That along with Hotspot and snicko would form a good DRS package.

Pitch map in a different form, will most probably be kept.   That is, a coloured strip showing the stump-line.

Its a $$ issue, like everything with BCCI.  Do you guys have any idea how much it would cost to install Hawkeye at every international venue in India?   And its a monopoly product, not like you can negotiate with a competitor.

Hotspot is more expensive than Hawkeye. It requires more number of cameras and costs $6000 per day for a couple of cameras. Both the 2011 and 2015 world cups did not have Hotspot due to the cost.

Is England can afford it and put it in almost every single England match .. We so called RICHEST BOARD can't do it ? Corrupted  bunch of criminals :hitler:

Would rather spend the money for Ranji cricketers than on hotspot. But sachin and msd had issues. It is more about them than BCCI.

Clear edge on to the boots by Latham not given.

Jadeja to Latham, no run, huge appeal for a catch at slip as Latham sweeps. India are completely certain. Umpire Oxenford shakes his head and shrugs. It was bat onto boot, and straight to Rahane. The fact that it hit the boot on the full would have been impossible for him to see, but considering he didn't check with the other umpire, or go to the TV umpire makes it seem like he didn't see the inside edge either. Hmmm...

Three strikes, still not out

26.5 Shakib Al Hasan to Ali, no run, another big appeal, this time the finger goes up! Moeen has been dicing with danger, hit on the pads again and Kumar Dharmasena likes it - but England review. Shakib was bowling from over the wicket, the ball again spinning in to the southpaw, as with the review off Taijul... Moeen this time playing the sweep and struck on the front pad. Don't think there was bat/glove on this... Or is that a murmur on Ultra Edge? Yes, it would appear so: S Ravi is convinced, anyway. A scrape of bat tape on it and the decision is overturned!

28.2 Shakib Al Hasan to Ali, no run, that's much better! Tossed up, pins Moeen on the front pad, and up goes the finger! Moeen has reviewed, again, but this looks adjacent ...the DRS parameters have been tweaked in favour of bowlers, so if this is clipping, it is out... the tension is unbearable ... but it is missing! Spinning too much... golly

28.4 Shakib Al Hasan to Ali, no run, another sweep, another appeal, another review! Well this is extraordinary. Umpire Dharmasena's finger is incredibly itchy at the moment - he has raised it three times in six balls! - but this one looked as though it was outside the line. There's no bat involved... and indeed, it is outside the line!

Moeen Ali survived total 5 reviews.

India have agreed to use DRS for the Test series against England on "trial basis" "to evaluate the improvements made" in the system. India played in the first series with umpire reviews, against Sri Lanka in 2008, but this will be the first time since then that there will be a bilateral series involving India with all the components of DRS in place.

"We are happy to note that Hawkeye has institutionalised all the recommendations made by BCCI, and we confirm that this improved version of DRS will be used on a trial basis during the forthcoming series against England," the BCCI president Anurag Thalur said. "Based on the performance of the system and the feedback that we will receive, further continuation in forthcoming series will be decided. We recognise the enhanced role of technology in sport, and BCCI will lead such initiatives in coming days, and enrich the viewer experience."

I remember in ICC tournaments Dhoni used to use DRS calmly only when required. Hope Kohli also keeps his calm on the field as we should not lose the reviews early in the innings.

Rashid to Vijay, no run, an appeal for leg-before, Vijay has been given out by umpire Erasmus. It looks adjacent, but Vijay challenged the on-field decision pretty quickly, which suggests there may have been an inside edge? Bat first. Inside-edged onto the knee-roll on the front pad. The ball deviates. Snicko picks up the spike. "I am satisfied, looks bat first, says TV umpire Shamsuddin
