Whenever I go to India I feel like everyone is trying to copy the "American style of wearing cloths". I get depressed when I see those fake "Nike" caps and shoes and jackets because they look really cheap anyway. There are some good stores with good brand names but then i could find all of those names here in America for a cheaper price and more selectioin. Also, it's very easy to get ripped off for duplicates in India I feel (experience with bats and not cloths). If you are going to get tailored pants and shirts then obviously nothing beats that. Raymond is good for this.

I also like polos from Ralph Lauren and Lacoste but I rarely invest in them because of the high end prices. For office clothes I go for Chaps from Kohls. They have some sort of style and aren't all that expensive. CHAPS is also like American Living. Both are Ralph Lauren's product under different name. See, most of you guys are shopping at some branded outlets (I'm not dissing you :D) I like to wear clothes that have a very little chance of showing up on someone else in my vicinity, which is why I don't buy any branded designs. You can't expect any real quality. I bought one of those T shirt that says "i just don't care" a dialogue from office space. After first wash it became like a toddler shirt.

There were like 15-20 different Dukaans opened in same building and all were equally busy. One could customize the clothes, the way the want. They would make it ready within a day or two. I forgot the name of that place. Hopefully someone from Delhi can remind me the name of it.

Most of the brands and related apparel is made/manufactured in India, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Bangladesh. Why would stuff that we make or is made our geographic neighborhood be more expensive locally than it is in the US?

For something thats supposedly just like running barefoot, this sure costs a lot more than being barefoot.

They’re not cheaper in the actual sense, but you get your money’s worth, which isn’t something you can say about the clothes you get in India.

Tiruppur is one place where they make export quality dress. But they don't sell them in India. If you know someone there you can buy directly from there. I have bought a few there. Dirt cheap.

Only the brand can sell it here..and they do, at full price. I'm sure you've seen the prices at palladium. The US has a lot more competition, and completely different weather every 3 months, leading to a large number of sales. Thats where we desis cash in. Most desis I know always buy their clothes when they are on sale (buying shorts in the fall, or on the onset of winter)
