Both Umesh and Varun should play the first 3 ODI

Vinay may be under a bit of pressure to hold his spot, though, given the emergence of Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav in the Test series. Aaron and Yadav make up for their relative inexperience with pace - both are capable of regularly hitting 140 kph. Speed isn't Vinay's calling card, and he had a difficult tour of England despite the seamer-friendly conditions, picking up two wickets in three matches at 6.50 runs per over. However, he improved in the return series in India, including a spell of 4 for 30 in Delhi in conditions that suited him better. I don't know if Sreesanth is fit but with PK injury now would be the time to recall this experienced wicket taker leading the likes of Varun and Umesh. It could be fate/destiny, he replaced PK in World Cup squad.

I'll give you credit for being so very, very optimistic regarding a player like Sreesanth :hatsoff: sadly this guy has no future in cricket unless he sorts out his temperament and if he cannot do it then he can keep all his talent and fire in the belly and acting skills etc and concentrate on dancing.

Umesh now looks like a real potential. Not just the pace factor. It is important to see how much the bowler is taking out of himself to get that pace. Seems to me that he is just hitting his rhythm and doesn't seem to be trying too hard. There has clearly been some changes made to his action and for the better. Really good prospect now. Not so sure about Aaron. His run up is not convincing.

I saw Umesh's average bowling speed was quoted at 144.9kph (90mph)...He certainly is no fast medium bowler. Thats genuine quick !

I dont think they should play Umesh in ODIs at all. This is how they screwed up Ishant's career. Aaron can still play.

Umesh and Ishant both are different and Ishant's career was screwed up because of his own undoings. ODI or T20 does not have anything to do with it. If you change your bowling action, bowling approach, you will face these problems. Ishant tried this and got the unwanted results. I would say they should play him but still rotate the bowlers, not playing in every match. We yet to have a few fast bowlers to try and give them enough chances, likes of Abu Nechim, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohammad Shami, Rahul Shukla, Ashok Dinda, Tyagi, etc.
