The domestic help has alleged that when she asked for her salary, she was beaten up and imprisoned in a room for three days. She was released and was told never to come back. In the report, she has alleged that her salary has not been paid for two years. She also said that she has been working with them and also living in their house for the past two years. Police have filed a case against Kambli and Andrea under IPC sections 342, 504, 506 and 34.
Vijy Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 His career didn't last really lonh owing to multitude of reasons - Bad technique against quality bowling, Descipline issues and Hard luck. After starting test career in big-bang manner, including back-to-back double centuries and two centuries in Sri Lanka, he ran into WI who was still a force are even on Indian picthes. His technique was badly exposed in three test matches of that series. After that, India did not play much of Test Cricket for next two-three years so Kambli could not get a chance immediately to improve his image which was shattered by WI quicks. And, during these 2-3 years, Dravid and Ganguly emerged and with Sachin and Azhar being certainty in middle order there was no space left for Kamble to grab. Overall, I think he could have got some more chances and got a unfair deal in hindsight. He played total five series of three tests each and two series of 1 Test. 3 test series vs Eng - Success (Double Century) 3 Test Series vs SL in SL- Success (Two centuries , Half of the series was washed out) 3 Test Series vs SL in Ind - Success (India never got to play two innings in any test) 3 Test Series vs WI in Ind - Failed badly 3 Test Series vs NZ in Ind - Series washed out completely. So, it can be said that he was dumped from Test cricket too quickly, though kept getting chances in ODI's. Quite a good summary of what did happen.

Three tests: Test 1 1st innings: 40 in 39 balls. Walsh got him 2nd innings: 0 in 6 balls. Benjamin. Test 2 1st innings: 0 in 3 balls. Hooper got him, never faced anyone but Hooper. 2nd innings: 6 in 17 balls. Walsh, bowled. Test 3 1st innings: 18 in 18 balls. Benjamin c Simmons. 2nd innings: 0 in 5 balls. Benjamin c Sub. Sure, he had a bad series but you can hardly say that he struggled against pace. Because if he did, surely so did everyone else. And even Ambrose cannot bowl rising deliveries sitting in the Caribbean.

More than Kumble at 13, Raju and Walsh. Everyone struggled against him and not just Kambli.

Everyone struggled against him and not just Kambli.[/quote'] Yeah that is right.....it was Benjamin who had his number....I don't think this series had to do a lot with his fall.....it was more due to his own off-field antics. Also there was a luck factor involved to....He was unfairly dropped after the 96 worldcup where he was not really that terrible and unfortunately for him,Ganguly who was a controversial selection to begin with came from nowhere to steal the spotlight and Rahul Dravid cashed in his earned chance and that was the beginning of the end. Also I remember,he was doing well in domestics and recalled probably under SRT and he stepped on the ball and injured his ankle. That pretty much sums up his downfall in a nutshell.

In that Mohali test morale of every Indian batsman was shot after Manoj Prabhakar got hit on his face if I am not wrong and from that moment on there was going to be only one winner. For a career start he had, this guy surely warranted more tests to his name. Cricspin 1

sandeep Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 IIRC, Kambli also had a bad ankle injury that kept him out of cricket for almost a year - that was at a time when he probably had a window of opportunity for selection. Later on, that window closed due to Dravid, Gangu, etc. This is why he played domestic cricket in south africa a couple of years before 2003 world cup,hoping to make it back - but it didn't work out. By then, even Veeru had emerged, VVS was in the mix and Kambli was done.
