Deja Vu time in Aus - it's Eng tour all over again

Somethings never change' date=' i thought the English debacle was an anomaly but looks like we might get to see more of the same against the Aussies. At least the English team was a stronger unit than the Aussies, an embarrassing loss against this Oz team would be very painful.[/quote'] Yep. We thought that getting **** raped by England was the lowest of the low, but if this awful Aussie side (who couldn't even win the NZ series) smashes us then it will really plumb the depths :((

PK is yet another useless trundler. Dont get carried away by his 5 wicket haul in England. He got wickets because nobody else could as they were worse than him. Any bowler could have got 5 wickets there if he had bowled enough overs.
Irfan Pathan should be nowhere near the test squad....ODI's and T20's absolutely but in tests,no way.... Same goes for PK....Yes he did good in England but at no pint did he look threatening at all....mark my words he will just be a flash in the pan when it comes to test cricket....
All I can say seeing the stupid posts of a couple of arm-chair critic teenagers is, if Asif has been an Indian, he would have been abused no end for his lack of speed. The guy bowled the most unplayable bowls from our side but he did not look threatening at all to these mahasayas

+1 to those who said PK is over-rated in test .... what's next Amarnath is the good because he did exceptionally well in Eng taking 3 wkts in the most imp ODI game Ind has played!

PK was bowling at a speed you associate with Colingwood,Ealham, etc and was nowhere looking like an opening bowler of a leading test nation. As a hardcore-fan of the Indian team it was an embarassment to see PK bowling his wobbly seamers with the new ball. As I said earlier, yes,he did well in England but he doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of being a standout to be a part of the starting line up in our team. The guy is too one dimensional and his swing is definetely neautralised by his lack of pace in un-friendly conditions. This is were our selectors lack vision...Just because VK was one of the most economical bowler against a 2nd class WI side in a ODI series no one cared about,he is on a flight to Aus to play test matches.... People like VK,PK and Mithun are either hogging the space of more talented bowlers or it's time for us to accept and move on that there are not too many exciting prospects in the pipeline.

The guy shouldn't be playing LOI either in a perfect world...with the kind of surfaces they use for T20's and ODI's- add to that his batting and fielding skills,he doesn't have anything to offer... In ODI's I would prefer Pathan for his superior fielding and batting and similar trundling style. It is just so sad when people say we don't have a better option than PK

+1 today, no quality test team would open with a bowler like PK, who even when bowling in his prime struggles to go past low 130s .... that sight sent a wrong mesg to 100s of 1000s of fans telling them "pace is not everything" and such line of thinking is one of the reasons why Ind struggles to produce genuine quick bowlers .... where is the motivation to work hard to bowl fast when you can trundle your way to the Indian test team

PK needs to have at least Philander's pace which is mid 130s but he was bowling in mid 115s most of the time and that is very slow.He needs that speed bump of 5 to 7k.

Don't think it will be possible for him to bump up his speed at this stage of his career. If anything looking at his breakdown rate it looks likely he will lose pace.

There is nothing more for him to lose in terms of pace. Steve Finn is a good example of someone who gained pace with age but in PK's case,Ravi Rampaul is a good example of someone who gained pace later in his career but he was always a 130+ bolwer to begin with....given PK's bowling style, there is no way he will develop extra pace now... It is sad that that the fitness experts in WI are better than what BCCI's money could afford

does any think we over bowled PK a bit this summer?.he never played test cricket before and the stress of being our best bowler and our workhorse was too much for him.
a bit? Don't forget he also played in many of those useless odis

VK and Mithun, the less said the better.... Don't want to sound like dravidthewall but Sreeshanth unfortunately is still the 3rd best bowler in the country after Zak and Yadav and yes he is better than Ishanth in helpful conditions.sad he is injured. RP should never play for India again...Infact Ashish Nehra should be gkicked on his *** and asked to play test matches....he would do better than any other tundler replacement we send.... Don't pull names from RKT India's talent hunt because you need proven experience to perform in the tough conditions of Australia
Ishu was one test match old when he went to australia last time.:winky:

PK critics seem to be forgetting that matches are won by getting wickets and bowling out the opposition and not bowling fast darts. What more does PK have to do other than pick wickets over both the international tours he's been a part of ? If he's going to be bowling @ 115 kph and be a passenger, he will be dropped. What's the point of attacking him when he's been the best bowler in the squad against the team that defeated us and gained the #1 ranking ? FYI the other two seamers averaged twice as much and one of them is langda tyagi in the warm ups itself.

People like VK' date=PK and Mithun are either hogging the space of more talented bowlers or it's time for us to accept and move on that there are not too many exciting prospects in the pipeline.
Good job classifying VK & PK in the same category. I assume Malcolm Sami is as good as Andy Roberts according to u since they both bowled extremely phaasstttt.

those who are comparing pk to other swing bowlers didn't watch any of test series in england tht guy bowled some magic balls one to bell came in on middle leg swung away hit the top of off and bell was trying to defend on middle! and he made life of every one difficult if only he had little support he coulde ve won us matches! pk will never go form any runs his control is so much better than these day to day trundlers and he can swing ball both ways w/o any change in action thats why he is special and also he swings them miles even in odis if u saw he was the only one getting wickets up front consistently please dont take any credit away from him.. even english crowds appreciated him

Someone quoted the example of Asif...but his style was effective because they had genuine quicks like Gul,Aamir etc in England or Shoaib and even Sami playing alongside him whenever he was succesful.... Similarly Pollock had Donald,Ntini Mcgrath had Lee,Mcdermott(At the beginning of McGrath's career),Gilespee all genuine quicks....Infact Bichel,Fleming who though quicker than PK played alongside McGrath,he was definetely way quicker...Can't even classify him in the PK mould of bowling.. As I said earlier PK is a good support boler in bowling friendly conditions but cannot be a leader of the attack or cannot be in the starting lineup of every test match I can't beleive I just tainted McGrath,Pollock comparing them with PK to try get my point across... Anyay people talking about Asif...he had more pace and variations than PK for sure.. I put VK in the same category because even though I think PK is more talented, even someone like VK can be a good support bowler atleast in LOI but can never be in your starting lineup... As far as people going gaga over PK's bowling in England...Picking up a 5 wicket haul when the opposition has scored 500+ is not a big deal and compring his performance with the other bowlers on the Indian side in the ENG Tour is not the best benchmark

This thread is prooving panauti. Now we got one player definitely out. And a newbie to play in test game without any practice...... selectors

This is just the start... Zaheer will either get injured in the 2nd warm-up game or walk out after bowling a few overs in the boxing day test. Aus to win the series 2-0. We don't have the bowling firepower to take 20 Australian wkts. Our best bet is to play 3 spinners (Ashwin, Ojha, Rahul Sharma) rather than have trundlers like Vinay Kumar and Mithun play in the test series.
