Zulfiqar Butt, the father of Salman Butt told that Salman was being released and deported to Pakistan for his good behaviour during the imprisonment. It may be recalled that Salman Butt was sentenced two and a half years of imprisonment in November, 2011 by the Southwark Crown Court. But, his father Zulfiqar Butt told Geo News that his release from the jail would be confirmed by this night today. Salman Butt would be in Pakistan in the next three/four days. CSK Fan Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 It was not for good behaviour, butt's father is wrong. Butt signed deoprtation papers which allows the setence to be reduced till 25% of the origianl. Asif did not sign those papers as that would mean never coming back to England
Cricketics Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 On on a serious note, I think for a crime other than Murder, I think Salman Butt has faced enough punishment to be living in Jail for all this time. I think it's fine if these guys are freed. Lesson has been taught to all.

Apparently the guy hasn't learnt anything and is still as unrepentant as ever. He is the sort of chap who is sorry he was caught, not sorry for what he did. Here's the excerpt... Salman Butt, the former Pakistan captain who was convicted of spot-fixing, has returned home after serving seven months in prison. He arrived in Lahore at around 2.30 on Friday morning, exited from the airport lobby and spoke to reporters. He said he was not involved in any spot-fixing but claimed his mistake was not to report to the ICC when an offer was made. Butt, wearing a green polo shirt and jeans, was surrounded by a crowd as he made his way out of the airport after being cleared by Pakistan's immigration authorities, and had to shout for walking space. "I have no links with spot-fixing nor I have never entertained any offer, nothing ever practically happened in a match that was linked to any offer," he told reporters. "Of spot-fixing or any fixing, I never asked anyone to do anything or bowl any no-balls, I am not associated with it. "I apologised to the ICC for this, I did not report the events (in advance) between these two to three months because I knew the person. To the people of Pakistan, all the cricketers, those who support us and make us stars, I apologise - but for failure to report." Now the question for ICC has to be how can his rehabilitation ever be complete if he doesn't even admit to his mistake, forget about apologising and showing remorse? The guy has clearly learnt nothing from the ordeal and don't think he should ever be allowed to come back to cricket.
