Can we move away from srt and focus on bigger problems

And Tendulkar is in some red hot form now, that he will be able to groom and play around with the youngsters? If anything his form has gone even more pathetic. Where did I say anything about rookies and youngsters suddenly becoming world beaters? It's going to take time, but keeping Tendulkar in the side for grooming and playing around them is not going to help either. He can do all the grooming and playing around with them on the sides as a batting consultant if it's really that important.

Now Pujara is a wonderful find to replace Dravid but what about the other spot where we keep bringing in guys like Raina,Yuvraj ad now Jadeja(I am judging by what I have seen of him so far on the other formats,hopefully he will prove me wrong)....wouldnt you rather have someone like SRT there for the time being. I am not saying SRT should be invincible...he has had a rough patch and he should be treated accordingly.... I mean lets look at it 2 ways...I mean if SRT wants keep going till he is actually kicked out...why not BCCI can ride it's one golden horse till it's dead...makes perfect sense to me in a lot of ways as discussed above.

Gambhir is getting into better form, we can't drop him. Now that UV is out, I would drop Sehwag down to 6 and bring a new opener. SRT should be gone by summer. We have to stick with Kohli, he is too good to be dropped.

Things are not going to change overnight, as you said. It's going to take time. There have been positives - Pujara has come along and done well, Ojha has been improving, Yadav has been improving till he got injured.

I have never been in favor of Raina, Yuvraj, or Jadeja to play test cricket so it's not that I have been advocating change just for the sake of it. Rahane should have been playing from the start of the season at number 6. By now we would have an idea about whether he is capable of surviving at this level, if not in terms of the runs but in terms of the technique and temperament. If you remember the 10 odd runs Pujara made in South Africa, many people were impressed by his technique and temperament and thought he deserved a longer run. And if he was found to be inadequate you could have tried Tiwary or Rohit. The three biggest problems for team right now are number 4, number 6, and the captain. And Tendulkar's presence at number 4 is a huge problem because it's such a pivotal batting spot where you simply can't afford to have a batsman averaging 30 in the name of grooming players.

Isn't that what BCCI are doing anyways? I am not impractical enough to think that there is an actual possibility of Tendulkar being dropped, it simply won't happen. Our discussion on ICF is not going to change that reality, but that does not mean that his presence in anyway is helping the team.

1. He played selfishly and lost Asia cup. How can you complain any other batsman for being selfish while he is in the team? No one even had the guts to criticize him privately 2. He ran away when the team needed him in England. Then he was with MI giving moral support in the pavilion. 3. Has been playing bad for a very long time (since the QF against Australia in the world cup). 4. Has been going around and giving interviews that he will retire when he stops enjoying the game. 5. Is horrible in the field. Gives 2's instead of 1. 6. Has been stubborn. In the first test match even when we were in a winning position he did not come one position up. 7. Everyone says seniors are there groom. I did not see him groom someone else by giving his batting position or did not take responsibility when needed (he would have easily opened the innings during the first match). 8. Seems to be concentrating more on his hair styles than his batting. 9. Always looking for reasons. When the most senior batsman is looking for reasons to justify defeats it makes things easy for the fringe players. 10. Comes and leaves team as he desires at the expense of the team composition. 11. Seems to have started thinking he is really God. 12. Gets elected to Rajya Sabha and gives an iterview stating "he will go when he has time". What kind of moral and ethical lessons does this provide to the younger generation. Kick him out and bench all seniors for the upcoming ODI. Everything will fall in place.
