Cricketics Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I think on these tracks he can be a great deal for us. He has taken and troubled Austrlaia in the pas. Even taking a fiver. Surely better option? He can actually spin big on these tracks.

I doubt he has recovered fully and can bowl.

putrevus Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Sehwag drops a catch he is useless and should not be in team and we get these nonsensical columns "Virender Sehwag's slip-ups at slip are hurting India".The same idiot author fails to mention in column how Pujara's easy drop of Cook in Kolkotta when he was 17 went to make 190.Safe to say that drop cost the series. Our kaptaan kool drops catch it is very much ok ,the missed one stumping too yesterday.But he is trying very hard. Sehwag is a very good catcher but he rarely was in slips for spinners, Dravid was the guy.

Sehwag is a competent/above average slipper, simply because he lacks in consistency. He does drop catches but then again, so do all slippers not named MEW or Taylor (from what I've seen). I also don't care that he isn't terribly fit. Ranatunga wasn't terribly fit either, neither were Steve Waugh or such. He is a competent slipper and as such, when Sehwag isn't bowling or batting, he should be in the slips. He does better than anyone else in there right now and it also takes care of his liability in fielding at mobile positions. He's got a gut, but then again he also has back problems. What he's also got, is the best hand-eye coordination, aggressive intent and understanding of his own game combination i've seen in a batsman and that does include Viv Richards in his pomp.

Dhoni's primary job is to take opportunities behind the stumps and he wipes his behind while the ball flies between him and first slip.
