Damn good cricket played by you guys, I wont complain about the pitch, especially when a dude gets 224 in the blink of an eye. Oz have a woeful attack for these conditions. I always predicted 4-0 to India, dont see why this would change.

Why thanks. I must say Im surprised, particularly By Ashwin. Having not watched this test, has he bowled better than vs Eng, or are the Aussies just inept vs Spin

Posted

Aussies have been crap against spin for decades, everyone knows we got SUPER LUCKY in 2004. Ashwin bowled pies vs Aus and Eng previously. Imagine Ojha in for Harby, my god you guys will be unstoppable i these conditions. Cant help but think that among all the celebrations, i wonder if this is really all that good for Indian cricket moving forward?? Just seems like mid 90's all over again for india.

^Youre right, in these conditions is the crucial phrase. papering over the cracks. Weve still got a fragile opening combo, ordinary pace attack barring the first choice new ball duo and Jadeja is not a test player. MSDs knock was once in a lifetime.

dont think Ashwin bowled really exceptional here was good though. We also need to give credit to England batsmen especially Cook and KP who both are tall batsmen and used their reach to get to the pitch of the ball and smother the spin. Aussies found Henriques here. He is going to be a big headacehe for us whole series now. bring Doherty for Starc or siddle.

Still think, quite rightly, that India will struggle to win much overseas with this sort of team, the next tour to SA could be a total disaster, epic disaster. Doesnt seem like much forward planning going on. Vijay ahead of Rahane??? Continuing with this useless hack Ishant??? Thats worse than Pakistan picking Imran Farhat again!

I agree that these condition might not be the best ploy going forward. If we again get whitewash in SA then we would back to square one, which is mostly likely with attack with have currently until Umesh Yadav stop getting himself unfit ,but still we need more quality fast bowlers. We need a quality fast bowling attack, because we are not going to play in India always with such condition, and opposition team doesn't have quality spinner .

Robelinda, you're preaching to the converted mostly. The administrators need to make the right changes to domestic cricket for India's overseas performance to improve. For most Indian fans, the sad fact is that they know their administrators are a bunch of corrupt politicians who won't make those changes so we take solace in any victory we get. Having said that though, I like watching these games where it's an even contest between bat and ball. I've seen far too many matches played on flat tracks where the batsmen dominate for 5 days only for it to end up a draw.

In theory we could have a debutant or a relative newbie to fill in where Sehwag and Tendulkar now occupy batting slots and to replace Jadeja- surely none of those guys will/can tour SA- goes to show how poor the planning has been. A good opener and middle order bat should have been given more experience in this home season. Rahane and Mukund to name two...

This is a good test match pitch IMO. It had something in it for spinners from day one and batsmen can also score some runs if they get settled and play well. Of course, on 4th and 5th day the pitch will misbehave a lot more because of the rough. Aussies lacked quality spinners otherwise they could have troubled Indian batsmen more. They should have also scored more than 380 when the pitch was still at its best. Indian spinners, especially Ashwin bowled superbly and splendid innings by Dhoni and supported well by Kohli and Sachin. From Aussie side, Clarke and Pattinson did well.

one step at a time,we first need to restore our dominance at home.overseas we'll see when it comes.I'm not expecting much from SA tour. thanks Robelinda, but its not over yet.We won the first test v Eng too.then it all went south

Umash is our best bet , and he would be needed in SA. When I see him in SA, I want to see a improve bowler. There is no place for just potential, he has to deliver for India just like Zak used to for us. Bowlers like Ishant should be booted out of India side, he is just a waste of space.

Hope Shami graduates in time for SA..else it could be disaster.. And this is only the first test..Dhoni(CSK),Ashwin playing in home ground so..cant read too deep into it.

for the saf tour,we need to prepare the team from now.play rahane, shami who are fit, dispose the passengers such as bhajji, ishant, dinda, sehwag ,better if they play a full domestic season, workout on technique.. umesh, varun, shami are the next set of test bowlers, they should play regularly in the test matches, quit ipl and most importantly remain fit.
