this idiot must have forgotten his man of the series in 2008 against the aussies(in india). He clearly has lost it and cant justify his spot in the team but spouts nonsense like this.

Duh, what he said makes perfect sense from the standpoint of a fast bowler operating in subcontinental conditions. If you are not a gifted swing bowler (like Anderson), there's pretty much no use trying to break your back with the new ball, having 5 slips and 3 gullys in the first hour of the match. You want to be able to expend maximum energy to dismiss the batsmen when the conditions are in your favor, which, in sucontinental conditions, is when the ball is old(er) and starts reversing. Ishant Sharma can pretend like he's an out and out threat with the new ball on subcontinental tracks and attempt to bowl half-volleys in the hope of getting the batsmen caught at slip. The only plausible outcome from the strategy is him getting spanked thru covers from the middle of the batsmens' bat. Having said that, the last time Ishant consistently delivered with both the old and new ball outside home was in the West Indies in 2011, when he was absolutely brilliant. Beyond that, with the exception of the odd inspiring spell here and there, he has been pretty pedestrian with the new ball, even when other pacers have thrived. So its important that he does not think he's a reverse-swing-only bowler.

well he was a major threat back in 2008,we would have struggled to win that series without him.this is what is called moving the goalposts,he just cant cut it anymore beyond a rare spell now and then.

A decent spin bowler can do that for us with the new ball (i.e be defensive). Why do we need a medium pacer then' date=' get an extra spinner?[/quote'] I didn't realize spinners can reverse swing the old ball as well. :dontknow:

He's talking as if he picks loads of wickets overseas. This defensive attitude is the reason why he averages 40 in 50 tests.
Yeah... his average overseas is worse than in India!

This kind of pathetic attitude has plagued India , This guy should be ashamed and never picked in the side. This guy is talking as if he has taken bucket load of wickets when playing overseas. spinners when they go abroad they think their job is just contain and seamers have to take all wickets and they reverse their roles when playing at home.
