Number Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I never thought this young team will do so well in England at this time of the year when conditions are not good for batting. I was thinking if they dont finish 4th in the group it will be a decent tourney as this is a really new look team. Jadeja has been a real surprise along with Rohit. Everyone expected Dhawan to have a good tourney but he might as well be man of the tournament at this rate. Well done team India.:nice:
flamy Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 This team is very balanced in all three areas. I'd have been disappointed if they didn't make semis.
vvvslaxman Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Definitely.. Both match were pwnage of epic proportions. Having said that India's most uncertain area became our strength in both matches unlike warm up matches. Top order clicked.
BeautifulGame Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I was definitely expecting qualification for semis. But the way they have steamrolled SA and WI have definitely been a pleasant surprise.
GautiMaan Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Good to see both Maggie man and betel leaf doing well:two_thumbs_up:
saneindian Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I wasn't giving them any chance of winning a single match. Glad to be proved wrong. Has been very refreshing to watch.
G_B_ Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 same as saneindian. did not expect a single win. Jadeja's bowling and Dhawan have been the highlights.
NareshK Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Yes, I didnt expect them to qualify for Semis because I was suspicious of how this young/inexperienced team will bat in English conditions and how they will bowl. Glad to be proved wrong. :--D
jalebi_bhai Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Forget about the results......I'm just happy with the positive cricket being played......maybe Dhobi was right after all in wanting the likes of Sehwag and Gambhir out.....
Number Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Even after warm ups we were not sure who should play and who should not. One opener who looks in good touch has played 5-6 ODIs and had been a largely a failure. One opener had to be chosen among two ODI failures Rohit or Vijay. no. 4 hasn't played international cricket for 3-4 years. no. 5 struggles in bowling friendly conditions. How would spinners bowl in these conditions and how will an inexperienced pace attack operate?
vvvslaxman Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The way our batsmen time the ball and sound was pure magic.
GautiMaan Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The way our batsmen time the ball and sound was pure magic. :agree: The highlights package is gonna be a treat for many years
Yoda-esque Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Very much, I think the reason being that most new players like Rohit,KKD,Dhawan and Sir are playing their second innings. They have the maturity now.
coffee_rules Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 After the SL game, I thought we have a good chance to make it to the semis. Will meet Eng for Semis for sure.
flamy Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Forget about the results......I'm just happy with the positive cricket being played......maybe Dhobi was right after all in wanting the likes of Sehwag and Gambhir out..... where's your avatar from? :woot:
Swing_n_Speed Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 1 poll option is missing and that is : No, they fully lived up to my expectations
Rob9 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 we've had just 2 games.probably can comment on this after the game against pakistan
Rob9 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 honestly after the whole fixing fiasco, i expected the team to do well. India has this capability of playing hard when they have to prove a point. Also expectations were comparatively lesser due to conditions in england.
