Deleted_User_1 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Yadav will do good in tests' date=' but tell you what, he will never be a Zaheer khan, or a Jimmy Anderson. By that i mean, he will never be a leader of the attack. The next leader of the Indian attack is Bhuvi. Yadav is not intelligent enough, he will always need a dhoni to guide him. If you give ball in his hands and ask him to plan 6 deliveries on this own, set his own field, he would probably bowl 4 boundary balls and 1 wicket taking ball in that over. Just seem to lack brains and strategies to take wickets on his own in LOI's. Its just a matter of time before he looses his place to Varun Aaron or Mohit Sharma in the ODI team.[/quote'] +1
sekhar Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 I believe we should handle him the way australian management handling pattinson...no LOIs for him....They can be suicidal if you are struggling for accuracy
rkt.india Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 what type of technical glitch? Body alignment while delivering the ball is not straight, head falls to left, also needs to see his front foot if it is planted or stays in the air while releasing the ball. He had this problem before too. All these things result in lack of control.
vishalvirsingh Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/651481.html This is an article about steven finn but it sits up perfectly on umesh yadav....we all know he is genuinely quick, had a decent test average in short career, and an out-n-out wicket taker(and that's why we all ICFers love him)....But is he bankable? The recent development have really put a question on his reliability...Clearly he is not those type of bowlers who create pressure ball after ball, force you to do something silly and get your wicket..he is some one who will bowl a half folly on the pad which you will flick for boundary, and the very next ball he will bowl a full fast delivery which will sneak through your defence. But is this what test cricket demand?? or is this how we can stand against SA? How you rate yadav as a test bowler and importantly future spear-head of Indian attack..or is it safe to call him a spear head? As there is a nice cliche in the above mentioned article: What according to you umesh yadav is: future spear head or spray gun?? He is a Future Spearhead- I am surprised to see that ICFERS are critics to a real big extent............. i agree Umesh has not outbowled Bhuvi but he has surely outbowled ishant since he has come to international cricekt, and why he has not outbowled Bhuvi is bcos Bhuvi got a chance to bowl on swinging conditions and pitches which suited him and he also managed to increase his pace a little, more over he has genuine brains too........... but dear if u guys have ever tried to bowl fast .. i mean stretch urself hard u wud come to know that when one stretches hard he is bound to bowl a NO ball , bowl on the leg stump etc.......... even 7 ft west indies great fast bowlers also did that .....so genuine fast bowling is at some cost , it is you neeed to decide whether u need it or u dont need it................ See Tino Best...........He was about to destroy the might of INDIAN batsmanship recently.. got a couple or 3 wicekts and one more wicket at that stage and indian batting wud have packed up....... even kohli was finding playing him tuf and mind you kohli is one of the BEST batsman in the world today...Karthick actually got out 2 times before tino got him the third time.... Umesh also opens up batsman and though he gets one or 2 key wickets some times but with a bit of Luck , he can always get 3 to 4 wickets in an ODI when ever he bowls 10 overs ............. I am fine to let him give 70 runs in 10 overs and get us key 2 to 5 wickets....There would be matches which He would win totally on his own.......... i wud prefer his bowling anaylysis of 10-0- 72-3 as against VK's analysis of 10-2-48-0 or 10-2-48-1 ( batsman threw his wicket to him) We always had a few Defensive bowlers in our kitty who could stop runs from being scored... Sardar Bhajji always gave less runs even on his Bad days... being economical in ODI's is not a big thing, bcos if one bowler is economical but does not get wickets , the batsman will score against some body else. did u see Umesh making a JOke of that practice match with australia claiming 5 wickets in 4 overs......since then India is only winning. Guys- Please understand even shoaib akhtar , tait, brett lee, waqar younis , dale steyn, tino best and the tall african fast bowler morkel are expensive ODI bowlers.. All fast bowlers have leaked runs in ODI always ... but team management do not pick trundlers to play ahead of them. Umesh shud play ODI and tests and play seriously and Bowl fast and maintain his line n length too, he bowled well in champions and even in celkon cup he was fine.......open the records and u will come to know he took key wickets. Please dont compare a Vk or even Mohit to a UMESH Yadav, for me it is like you are trying to compare a Hyena with a Tiger.... Tiger at half fitness is also strogner than a hyena.... and
CG Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 That was Srinath around 1996. I dot believe srinath was as quick as yadav over a match.U Can check india sa series review of 1996.
CG Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 With experience he will learn.Bhuvi is a good odi bowler and yet to do anything at testlevel .If ishant can get his act together ,they will compliment each other.
rkt.india Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I dot believe srinath was as quick as yadav over a match.U Can check india sa series review of 1996. This video of him is enough for me to assess how quick he was in those days. vishalvirsingh Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Though I am a big Fan of Umesh and was a fan of Srinath If I had a fully fit Srinath Today and fully fit Umesh today I wud go for Srinath as Srinath was definitely 140 to 145K During his peak and always .....I believe Umesh n ishant touched 152K In their career but Srinath is the preferred one for me. Ishant is even taller than Srinath but probably a Slower and little inferior version of Srinath. I saw a match in which the Great Venky and Srinath bowled in Tandem.......Srinath was bowling Quick n creating panic for batters N vanky looked like a gentle medium pacer but he was also getting Some bounce.......
Muloghonto Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Meh, its not about bowling 4 balls after wicket-taking balls or having 4-balls in every over. That is not Finn or Umesh's problem. Trust me, if every over the bowled had a genuine wicket-taking delivery and two garbage balls, they'd be batting at an insane strike rate eventually. Bowling tight clearly helps and is ideal but cricket is not built exclusively on bowling tight. Alan Donald or Waqar Younis were rarely tight- they usually went for plenty of runs and took plenty of wickets. Until Steyn entered his prime a couple of years ago, he too was a bowler who went for plenty and took plenty of wickets.
vishalvirsingh Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The exploits made by Bhuvi in ODI"s are more than Impressive And if I need to single out one person as the reason of our wins In champions n Celkon....I wud say it was Bhuvi who won Us the Cups.....his Success in Africa Tests is Guaranteed...if he is fit enuf He will suceed and 60 percent chances are he will Be our best Pace bowler......40 percent chances are Umesh..... So its either of them will be our Best Pacer..... Ishant has Just one Strength and that's a bouncer , bouncers Are normally ducked by batsman and his full pitched bowling is HIT ME Bowling as his Seam is not straight....and so he gets no swing. I expect him to play the defensive role most often bowling outside offstump And expecting batsman to make mistake of edging The ball......followed by a few bouncers which will be easily ducked..... Apart from these he will bowl some legstump run scoring opportunities..... So Bhuvi is our best bet in Tests Still as he will even be a threat With the old ball........
rahulrulezz Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 He is not a curious case.. He is our future.. He needs our support... Genuine quicks needs to be supported and appreciated.. and then we complain we never had single fast bowler in India...

msb1991 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I wonder what physical training that Yadav does. Watched a documentary (its on YouTube) of Brett Lee and he trains absolutely loads. Loads of cardio, loads of high intensity cardio, loads of weights.
Vilander Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 That was Srinath around 1996. well..we never knew what was his speed post the rotor cuff injury if you discount the zim and sa series one never know if Srinath hit 150+..there is evidence of him hitting 150+ in one delivery..he bowled the quickest delivery by Indian, but was he consistently quicker like Yadav... arguable. But still even you should agree Yadav is quicker than anything we have seen outside Varun crumble back Aaron in recent times.

Srinath touched 156 k in Zim and he was faster than Donald and Klusner in the series prior to than in SA..after that he got rotor cuff injury and slowed down. He was hitting 137 -142 regularly in 2003 WC if you remember.
FischerTal Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 keep continuing with the spray gun... one day his average will fall below 40 :cheer:

FischerTal Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 i wish people had less double standards u dont have to hate one person to love another :winky: i hate yadav in ODIs... shouldnt be there..... he's made for Tests.
Old guy Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 i hate yadav in ODIs... shouldnt be there..... he's made for Tests. we dont have unlimited supply of bowlers they are trying him out hopefully he will improve just in time for next world cup i dont mind if he is dropped for mohit sharma or kaul or shami but if he is dropped for vinay kumar or mithun i will rather have yadav
