They're trying Raina @ 4 while preparing for the possibility that Yuvi is not available. Its outright stupid to mess around with positions if they're working fine and everyone's available, which is what you're suggesting in the first sentence.

Lol...no. As soon as Raina comes to bat, opposition target him with Short balls because his weakness is pretty evident. GG, Ganguly and Sehwag didnt had those problems. Lets put it this way, Raina expect bouncer as soon as he comes to the crease but he has hardly done anything to sort out his weakness. Sometime it seems like he is running away from genuine quick balls to save himself from injury. Ganguly during his early days had weakness in leg side, but he worked hard on net and became a good player in both side of the wicket. Raina needs to sort out his weakness. You pitch the bowl full or good length, there isnt a better striker than Raina. But the moment you bowl short, he become a sitting duck.
How did he manage to score those runs in the last match if its a such a big problem ? if anything it was Yuvi and to a extent Dhawan who looked clueless against pace and bounce . Rainas problem is that he is a compulsive puller of the ball , he tries even 50% shots which he needs to stop doing . lol @ Ganguly sorting out his weakness against shortball .

dont get me wrong. Rohit should have been axed a long time ago. Made to earn his way back. If you go through my post history, i was always for tiwary replacing him. However, when it comes to Australia as i mentioned Rohit has two solid knocks. Demonstrating he can bat there. I think he is overcoming his temperament issues. Raina's highest score remains 40. He has no 50 there.
Not really . He just got lucky with an opportunity to open . Swap their places , I bet Raina will outscore Rohit in every ODI slot at a much better SR .
