MUMBAI: Close to three-fourths of flyers, mostly men, from the country want airlines to ban children under 12 from certain areas of planes, and are ready to pay a premium for such a seating, according to a survey. According to a survey carried out by travel search site Skyscanner among 1,000 air travellers in the country, as many as 73 per cent of them, with 400 men and 330 responding women, want airlines to start banning kids under 12 from certain areas of a plane and are ready to pay up to 10 per cent premium such a flight. ... When asked if they will pay extra to sit in a child-free zone on-board an aircraft, 43 per cent of the respondents said they are not for an "adult only" section and are this not ready to pay more. However, says the survey, an interesting finding is that two out of the five male travellers are ready to pay 10 per cent more as they feel that co-passengers with kids shouldn't be made to sit next to them as they are noisy. I think they should take charter flights, it will be peaceful and quiet for your highnesses!

I think it has got something to do with desis obsession of covering their young ones as if they are going to Mt Everest. I saw a few month old baby cry for 8 hrs on flight from Sydney to Malaysia. The poor kid was wearing a cap, a sweater, socks, gloves, he was then wrapped in shawl and then forced in the crib which was then covered with a blanket. For some reason desis believe that kids should always be covered from head to toe. Secondly, people do not do their homework. It's important that these kids are entertained, given water/milk during take off and landing so their ears don't hurt. I'm sorry to say but 7 times out of 10, if a desi kid is crying, I will see his parents watching tv with headsets on and maybe patting the kid. They don't have the sense to pick up the baby and realize that it's not comfortable for 10s of other people who are sitting around them.
