Why are we struggling against spin lately?

Watching these hacks trying to play Tahir and Duminy is embarrassing. Class of 90s would have ended the careers of these ordinary tweakers. Totally downhill our game against spin bowling. :((

The myth that we are the best players of spin bowling has been shattered over the past 2 years. :(( Grew up watching Sidhu,Azhar,Sachin,Dravid,VVS,Dada,Viru :((

Same time, our batting against Pace bowling has improved many folds

Again our play vs spin bowling against BD on this highway was very unconvincing. Herath will eat our batters alive if they continue to be so inept. :((

Guys like Kohli and Rohit are no Sehwag and they shouldn't try to be. They are good vs spin no doubt but they aren't showing any respect at all even to good balls, both got out to balls that could've been easily defended. I think they're getting complacent with their ability to handle spin and that is their undoing.

Herath will be inept himself by the time India tours.

The problem for Indians when the face teams with good fast bowling attacks , they see spinners as release and therefore they are going after them and in that process losing wickets. I would not put too much about this test though, all Bangladesh has is spinners so they are bound to lose some wickets to them.

My guess is defense has taken a back seat these days. Batsmen don't pay enough attention to defense. Even a rubbish spinner is capable of bowling a odd decent ball . On spin pitches it is even more possible. Viru is one of a kind when it comes to defending spinners. He very very rarely missed the line of the ball. Gauti would play using the depth of the crease. Everyone could defend spin well. I guess judgement is not there with some of us about which ball to attack which ball to defend. One of the reason why we gifted wickets to Moeen bhai, Lyon Bhai.

He would always look to attack and there is the problem, indecisiveness which batsmen now have. They need to be decisive in both defense and attack.

He did not miss the line of the ball even an inch even though more seasoned players could not read Mendis much.

This jubair kid has a decent googly' date=' but the inability to pick it from the indian bats is disappointing...[/quote'] 100% agree man, they have been unable to read the ball from the hands of many spinners in recent times. Very worrying signs.

The older generation were masters of playing spin...they had brilliant technique against swing bowling...they struggled against pace and bounce bar 1 or 2. The younger generation seems better against pace and bounce but are horrible against spin or swing bowling
