what I am saying is the dismissal was due to just being stuck on the full ball.Rohit case is diff the ball was outside offstump and swinging away most of them were on good length rather than full.If steyn was littler fuller he might have got the edge.

those balls are easier to play and more importantly that you go infront its not short ball but good length ball and on that track it was coming and good height that you can go forward look i have seen that match and each and every ball was outside off stump and swinging away if he was little bit in front foot he would have covered them much much better no one is comparing both balls i am comparing very old basic technique that you on front foot to ball which swings ..tbh rohit was lucky that those balls were short

So, not sure if planting foot foward is that easy.[/quote'] oh its very very tough ..sachin used to say he had to tell himself consciously to push forward even if there is danger of bounce cos that swing will get you unless you try to cover it but problem is rohit has had this problem against every bowler and there is room for improvement and also i just pointed out problem did not say he sucks or anything.. top is that it was not good inning like some people here are making it sound like..not that rohit is bad player cos he is not he is one of more solid players in our team and will do well in middle order in tests but opening here against steyn is gonna be tough unless he goes forward.. bas i am saying this.. while these guys are saying it was good inning and he left balls while he played and missed 7 out of 16 balls in first 3 overs also not one ball of steyn was hitting stumps,so this shows his problem same way kohli has had problem with morkel for some time now even struggled last time we played south africa in south africa.. you tell me was it good inning or inning where he was pawned by greatest bowler playing today and just got lucky to not edge the ball..?

Cook now has 7883 runs in 177 inngs @ 47 ( SRT had same no.of runs in just 154 inngs @57 ). After 177 inngs SRT had 8921 runs @ 55. Its going to be very difficult for Cook to surpass SRT unless he ends up playing a lot more Tests. He needs 53 runs every single inngs to get past SRT in 329 inngs. Makes you wonder what might have been if BCCI played more tests in the early 90s.

I am glad,we kinda didn't.....Non-SRT related...BCCI became a money spinning juggernaut with all those(most of them useless) tri-series and other ODI series. In Hindsight the 90's team wasn't this bad overseas as our current lot seem to be......I remember Srinath and Prasad doing well in Eng and SA...Hell even against a stronger WI we came close to winning a Test without our strike bowler. I wont write off the current lot completely but so far not looking good

Cook will be playing 100th test at Perth..debuted in 2006. ps: Contrast this with Raina who debuted in the same 2006 series vs england and is yet to play 20 tests

This is downside of playing too many tests too soon, once your form goes missing you have no time to regain it in tour matches. Pretty soon you are out of side like Strauss, we have to wait and see where Cook goes from here.
