vishalvirsingh Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 No. He was not much quicker than Mohit, BK, VK in last few series he played. He also averages around 83 mph. Shami averaging around 86-87 mph even in India that is where he needs to be on average pace to be called to have some pace. Steyn, Morkel, and Parnell all three were averaging 88 mph yesterday, more than Shami. Only Yadav can match their pace. Lack of pace with Ishant has been really disappointing. Even if you cannot swing the ball or hit the seam every time at least try to bowl quick to negate lack of swing. You cannot just come and trundle straight balls at 135K without swing or seam. well sadi RKT Bhai.... Seeing ysterday 's match i was clear we were desperate underdogs.. i liked Kohli and Dhoni's aooriach of Attack is the best defence. Dhawan should not have attacked so much. Rohit started sucking and showing africans that STEYN is UNPLAYABLE....kohli hit steyn's second ball for a 4 and showed..- i dont know why people compare n worship rohit as well wher as i seriously believe he is an average batsman and even guys like raydu and Rahane can be played ahead of him.. rahane and raydu would have more consistency if not the flair..even Manoj tiwary was probably better than Rohit... Kohli is undoubtedly the best indian batsam and that also by a MILE........I guess he got too excited and gave away his wicket. if dhawan or KOHLI hit a 150 we have some chance else NOT....as we have 2 guys who can win us the match 1...is DHAWAN and second is Virat....RAINA is also GOOD in indian or asian tracks but in africa he sucks. yes we need to have 5 pacers or 4 pacers and a spinner playing--------- when in rome do as the romans do..thats a saying........... when in africa do as the africans do, Had i been the captain of INDIA... 1. I wud play 5 pacers....what ever we have ..even if we have 3 trundlers and 2 quicks but do what africans are doing. 2. I wud also Notice and watch what devilliers is doing when he sets his field.....and try n use that knowledge as i strobngly beleive all these international captains know their regions as the back of their hand... i saw dhoni setting up field at wankhade, and asking his spinners to bowl according to the field.. it was not cricket but a CLASS - opoosition was like students , they came obeyed dhoni and got them out..his team obeyed him his bowlers obeyed him and by chance when he did not dhoni's body language said everything. indians need to bowl at the length africans bowled... our spinners are not AJMAL that they wud get turn n spin on african tracks too.... ashiwin and jaddu cud not turn even a single ball ysterday.. i wud play ashwin ahead of jaddu as i beleive that ashwin's batting skills are better than Jaddu but jaddu's fielding skills are FAR better so i m in 2 mind so what ever dhoni picks but he cant play both at any cost. actually he cud drop both also. i wanna highlight ---- Do as the ROMANS do... africans are stitching PITCHES that suit their bowlers.... if ashwin n jaddu play next match they will be murdered for 75 runs or more....and may not bowl their quota of overs too.............had i been a batsman i wud love to face them instead of even a BK or Mohit even.......... i beleive if india does not switch to 4 Pacers + aswin or Jadeja( one of these) ..we will surely Loose the second odi
The Realist Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Yuvi looks so lonely in the team with his pals gone ' date='I do not see a smile from yuvi much these days.[/quote'] I did not realise the national cricket team was a kindergarten - perform or let other younger players have a crack. Cannot forever be living in the past and in denial.
Soorma_Bhopali Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 LEt's get behind the team .we will win the next two games...Playing no practice games before ODI's was a bad idea ..how many times have BCCI let Indian fans down due to the primacy to commercial considerations rather than the Team India performance considerations
BeautifulGame Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 anyway the point is ,this odi series aint meaningless,we had a terrible record in saf and continue to do so even after being #1 and having a far better teams than what dravid/ganguly had..we have to win odi series in england, saf, aus to prove our credentials as #1 odi team.the way we lost yesterday doesn't give much hope for the remainder of the odi series especially knowing saffies are all charged up and want to win this badly We dont need to prove anything we are the world and CT champions. Our objective is to build a team to win the world cup in 2015.Rankings mean zilch its the world cup that matter. 7 out of this team near certainities for world cup team.Even jadeja too unless we find a seaming all rounder soon.So this is more about getting them as much exposure and experience and be ready for the world cup. I am not saying we shouldnt try to win here or should drop Yuvi or Raina. But we should be realistic here. This is a very young team and didnt even have time acclimatize with any practice matches.None of our bowlers ever been part of a SA touring squad in the past. I think the problem is more to do with Pak winning the series before and us raising expectations suddenly . now u are mixing in tests too?we lost the one days 5-2,in 99-00 ganguly was not the captain. Yeah forget it was Sachin who had the honours of captaining that team :(( .But Ganguly's record wasnt any better either.Lost 4-1 vs Aussies in CB series and lost every home series against Aus too.And the WI loss at home was embarrassing after the high of CT 2002.However you look it our record under Dhoni is far better than we had under any captain in the past .
ruchi49 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 what can a captain do when bowler does not do their work,i think dhoni has to work on ours bowlers don't blame dhoni
Zanjeer Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 what can a captain do when bowler does not do their work,i think dhoni has to work on ours bowlers don't blame dhoni chose the right bowlers and don't pick the trundlers in the team.. How hard is to do that?
King Tendulkar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 chose the right bowlers and don't pick the trundlers in the team.. How hard is to do that? Apprently impossible. Even when have non trundler in shami, does not give him new cherry. Meanwhile we go from vinnay to unadkunt to mohit while 90mph bowler twiddles his thumbs on sidelines
gattaca Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 we rubbed CSA the wrong way. now we are gonna see some fast pitches lol.
King Tendulkar Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 We can do it http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/578614.html Although that was saffies minus steyn:--D
Yoda-esque Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 We can do it http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/578614.html Although that was saffies minus steyn:--D Look at our fast bowlers figures vs the spinners Maybe that's why they picked two spinners
rkt.india Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Look at our fast bowlers figures vs the spinners Maybe that's why they picked two spinners But pacers had picked important wickets. That track had flattened out for pacers but helping the spinners.
Clarke Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 We can do it http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/578614.html Although that was saffies minus steyn:--D Look at how our phaasst bowlers ended up. BK has slightly better figures than Yadav/Ishant :haha:
Yoda-esque Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 But pacers had picked important wickets. That track had flattened out for pacers but helping the spinners. SA would have won that game if not for the spinners
rkt.india Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 SA would have won that game if not for the spinners It was Jadeja's runout of Robin that turned the game and then ABDV was threatening to win the game but a snorter from Yadav sent him pecking. Spinners played a big role in stopping runs but they did not pick up wickets. There was some help for them. If you do not pickup wickets, you will eventually lose most of the games than you will win. It was not as close a match as it seems from the scorecard. Match was actually over at 238/7 when Du Plesis got out and only Mclaren and tailenders were left. Mclaen threw his bat around and took it closer but it was far too much. We actually won this match because we had picked up wickets at regular intervals.
