maniac Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 ROFL! "Natural flair" was busy this series with such things as closing his eyes with natural flair and doing these:...Meanwhile hardwork guy Rahane did ok :) ] Then who is? ^ That was the easiest wicket Steyn took in this series :hysterical: Why bring Rohit in this conversation...Rahane is good but No 6 position should be for a finisher be it Test,ODI or T20........Rahane is not a finisher may be a substitute 3 or 4....Full credit to him and I have been impressed not an ideal position
Marut Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 He should go up five. Rohit at six will now make a neat uniform tail from six down.
MCcricket Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Rahane showed he has the stomach for a fight which is most important, he should keep his eye on the short ball to avoid getting hit but he did play well, with more confidence he should do ok, am worried about Jadeja as a batsmen and Rohit let see.

We are playing test match dude and not one day. You don't need finishers in test matches. If you really need, than it's Dhoni who comes in after him, but come on, how can you bring a term "Finisher" to a test team. You watching too much twenty20 I think.

Laxman,Steve Waugh,Chanderpaul(debatable),Hussey,Prior,ABDV,recently Faf are all classified as Test Finsihers...Doesnt mean they have to play like a ODI....save the team by batting with the tail thats what a test finisher does
Cricketics Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Laxman' date='Steve Waugh,Chanderpaul(debatable),Hussey,Prior,ABDV,recently Faf are all classified as Test Finsihers...Doesnt mean they have to play like a ODI....save the team by batting with the tail thats what a test finisher does[/quote'] What's Dhoni's job then if he comes after Rahane?
maniac Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 What's Dhoni's job then if he comes after Rahane? I think we all have concluded he is a tailender :giggle: but in all seriousness,Rahane himself is looking to survive, dont see him protecting the tail and playing a quick innings,Even Ashwin is better than him in that aspect Rohit showed the ability in the WI series, just saying But as I said too early to judge him,He is still raw so lets hope for the best
Sidhoni Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 maniac dude you just go from bad to worse to worst
rkt.india Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Not technique' date=' the tempermanet. I wish that word is used more often than technique. What our players have shown here is the "Good temperament"[/quote'] This. Rohit lacked this.
express bowling Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I think what Maniac is trying to say is that slots 6 and 7 should ideally be for guys who can be big hitters .... so that if they have to bat with the tail they can play some big shots. It assumes even more importance with our brittle tail. Rahane would be better at no.5 and Rohit at no.6. That being said, Rahane has been fabulous really.
Cricketics Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Excellent knock. If only someone could have stayed with him, we had surely saved this one.
Cricketics Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Trust the man, he is one of the better players in India. Well done Rahane Time to move to number 5. It's our slot.
cricraja Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Trust the man, he is one of the better players in India. Well done Rahane Time to move to number 5. It's our slot.I think you are right. Swap Rohit and Rahane batting spots. Ajankya at 5 and Rohit at 6 for England 1st Test.
peterparker Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 This is the thing which everyone says and is the difference between pujara/rohit and kohili/rahane. pujara/rohit scores big, and kohili/rahane gets out by 120, in test, not in one day.

Rahane is a nervous starter when he is new at the crease. I think opposition bowlers have an excellent chance to get him out before he scores 20. Once he crosses that mark, after that he is a real pleasing player to watch. Nohit scores big? Big what? Big Andaas? (ducks) Andaa player.
gakgupta Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 He probably made couple more hundreds had he played at a higher position for India in Tests.....he has the technique and attitude to survive at the highest level....What a find for india
tweaker Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Well deserved first test century for Rahane
