I think they did really well in the circumstances, and on another day India might have lost their composure at the end but they persisted and finally got rid of ABDV and Du Plessis, and also managed to secure the draw despite Philander's presence at the crease. Also going back to previous days, the batsmen and bowlers did really well.

Kohli and Pujara cannot do this act every time and we will loose heavily when they fail.[/quote'] We played as a unit exceptionally.The discipline of Vijay in both innings and without Rahane's restrained 47 we would have been bowled out for less than 200 easily .That's 4 out of 6 in the top 6 producing telling contributions. In fact if we weren't looking for quick runs in the 2nd inn they hardly would have bowled us out

Proud of the boys. But lot of other players in the team are still yet to show. It was a 3 man show in this test match. PUJARA-KOHLI AND SHAMI. Then Rahane did have a decent game with the bat and Vijay. All others still are livign on the performance of these few players. They need to come to the party soon. Well done team India.

We did not really score fast in the second innings. From 284/2 after 78 on day three to 315/3 after 93, i.e 31 runs off 15 overs is fast scoring for you? By the 100th over it was 327/5, so 43 runs off 22 overs with the loss of three wickets. India lost plenty of wickets inspite of scoring at snail's pace (rpo<2) on day four. That is what happened. Zaheer later swung his bat and got some useful runs but we were going to be bowled out anyways.

lol- i was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. But I think the reason for the batting comparison is that Jaddu hasnt batted that many test innings, has the weight of expectation, and is shorter (disadvantage in these conditions) whereas Ashwin bats pressure and expectation free

Without practice matches, if Indian team had rolled over and played dead, not many could complain. But they took it to a thrilling draw. Good for the Indian team, and wish even better luck at Durban. Disappointments: Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (1st Inn) and Ashwin(WTF!!! even Duminy took wickets) Rest of the team - well done.

We only started losing wkts when we tried to score quickly. Case in point both Pujara and Kohli getting out chasing wide ones.

How many runs did ashwin even score? if we replace him with yadav and our tail wags a bit, score some 4's, defend, frustrate SA, then we'll be fine. Our BATSMEN have to score the runs, and we need to give tail some confidence. Ashwin goes, yadav comes in. Yadav should open the bowling or first change. He'll be great on a pacy, fast pitch and if he can probe, he can get the wickets.
