It must be said that Kohli, Pujara and , most of all, Rahane, have improved their game a lot. Tremendous determination too. Must have put in a lot of hard work. Kudos. Also,.... Motu coach is perhaps a better batting coach than a main coach.

If I have to pick a Wicket keeper apart from Dhoni, it will be Saha.

There is still a place for pace bowler in your team , which could go to Nehra.

ShebbySB Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Dhawan & Rohit have the game,they need to work on their temp. ........Vijay, Pujara,Virat & Rahane has passed the litmus test.We're in good hands.We'll be unbeatable at home,none can beat us in the SC conditions.If we win th NZ series & be competetive in the Eng series we can evolve into a gun test team, only thing is that our bowling is a worry so we need to play Umesh,Aaron,Pandey along with Shami & be patient.I believe we've got a decent spearhead in Shami.

Old guy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 One thing I like is unlike before we will beat any team at home right now including South Africa So there is massive improvement already from last year As these guys get experienced we will start winning away more but need to be patient in these first away tours ..

Against a lesser bowling attack they will score big consistently, here the SA trio were relentless yet these 4 succeeded. Gives us great hope for the future. Hopefully Dhawan and Rohit can also improve their game. Both are capable and will ultimately find their way of scoring runs away from home too.

satishg Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Rahane has been the find of the series. The kind of shots he played yesterday when he decided to get some quick runs shows his attacking abilities. Good times ahead for Indian batting but the same cant be said about our bowling :((

Rahane's improvement does not even need pointing out. Playing Steyn and Morkel with authority in South Africa is not the same as playing well on a green top in Ranji or even playing quicks in a test in India. The difference is huuuge. I had read a report that Indian batters had practiced really hard under the guidance of Motu, on how to play in Africa and practicing playing short balls as well as leaving the ball outside the off stump. The technique against quicks, used by most Indians batters in this tour has been somewhat similar in intent although different in style and execution. The improvement in technique of all successful batters is for all to see.

However, starting from the NZ tour Rahane should bat above Rohit, given he is clearly the more accomplished batsman as of now. If Rahane scores at 5, it might even make Rohit's job easier coming in with a cushion of more runs.

He could neither touch nor leave it. He was perplexed througout that spell. Meanwhile Vijay looked so authrotiative, never looked clueless in Tests.

Dhawan never had an ugly period even his short stay like Rohit did in ODIs and I din't follow his innings today where he scored 20 odd runs, the highest in this series.
