He needs some time off, but this guy is an idiot with no game plan of his own. If Dhoni continues to play these players, then they will never improve. Zaheer improved only after being dropped. These players have taken their spot for granted and think that they have no shortcomings, no technical problems. Ishant and Ashwin are prime examples of this mentality. Dhoni is only ruining theirt careers through his stubbornness.

Spinner has a very short run up and you need all of it to build rhythm and momentum. if we have to play him try him at top of order as pinch hitter or something and see if anything comes out of his batting abilities.

Raises a few questions - Why hasn't he been dropped ? Why such a big discrepancy between his home and away performance ? Is this guy really a viable option as your front line spinner if he is this abysmal away from home ? And the biggest question is shouldn't a country where spin is so relevant be producing more world class spinners ? I see you missed watching CT where he was very good including v England in finals defending a low score hes out of form but these are tracks where most spinners will struggle.Narine struggled too in recent WI-NZ series. we also need to see how they go bowling 2nd

Kudos to him for restricting the likes of Dhoni & Kohli which Ashwin failed to.

He failed to pick a wicket. Jadeja meanwhile got 6. Yeah durban turned more but JP outbowled ashwin. How do u explain that?

Marut Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 He needs to be dropped for now. His bowling has lost the mystery element he had in his first year. He is too predictable - selecting him again and again is giving wrong signals to him and for other passengers like Ishant and Nohit. A dropped Ashwin has no choice but to go back and improve or get sidelined permanently. You play for India if you perform right now, not because you have tailunt or you have performed in the past.
