Laaloo
That is abysmal. Makes you question why he is selected Batting depth does not look very deep if the likes of rayudu get picked. :mi: is the reason why he was selected. not on his merit pathetic Link to comment
putrevus
India needs a go to bowler We can critique batting all we want but unless this team finds a strike bowler whom the team can depend to get a break thru when needed or bowl a tight over when needed this team is going no where. Other bowlers also can use the pressure he creates to become more effective.Today till his last over Jadeja was that bowler but he wont be able to do it in NZ and Australia. They can say ball was wet but both Shami and Bhuvi were overwhelmed in the death overs, ball was wet when spinners were bowling too Jadeja was doing fine.In spite of all drops India had great chance to win all they needed one good over from either Bhuvi or Shami at that time. They might have won the match if those dropped catches and missed stumping did not happen but it would not have addressed lack of go to bowler.Every good team except India has at least one go to bowler. When India had half decent go to bowler they won world cup. I don't think batting will remain a issue it will sort itself given some time but bowling is the big problem. Link to comment

jf1gp_1
we do miss him on these kind of pitches against spin centric opposition attack with ropes pulled in so much but more than his batting or even bowling we are missing raina the fielder cant believe we dropped so many catches today. When India had half decent go to bowler they won world cup. I don't think batting will remain a issue it will sort itself given some time but bowling is the big problem. Historically India has had this problem with bowling and so has our perennial search for a go to bowler, a messiah, a savior. But we don’t realize even teams that have these go to bowlers, just didn’t land on them from heaven. They probably had a consistent bowling line up with good bowlers + all-rounders, among them they could identify one that has something special and they need to be used judiciously. They are given the freedom to attack, given attacking fields, they go all out on pace/turn/whatever they are good at and they reap the benefits. For starters we don’t play enough bowlers. We often field a bowling attack of 3 bowlers (takes care of 30 overs) + 1 all-rounder (this guy is often a spinner and can bowl 10 ovrs in Sub continent conditions, but a dud overseas) + rest are part timers (we supposedly had some good ones in yuvi and raina but their form with bat had not been good lately). For a team that prides itself as a batting powerhouse our love for playing 7 batsmen always surprises me. What it tells me is we don’t believe in our quality of batting and always needed to reinforce it with numbers, if your top 5 batsman can’t win you games 4 out of 5 times, why would you call yourself a batting powerhouse? Our love for branding any batsman who can turn his arm around with a little success as an all-rounder (like binny panny) and very little success as part timers (naydu, sharma) and not playing enough bowlers is hurting us big time. The result of these mistakes are obvious, our bowlers are constantly under pressure to make up for the so called all-rounders and part timers. Bowl defensive line and length, bowl to defensive fields and are over worked. Go to bowlers often don’t come into the team as Go to Bowlers. They are made. Period. Link to comment

Rayadu has not shown that. IPL doesnt count. Who gives a flying f** if he does well in IPL? Link to comment
