conditions have been dry this year. There is no other spinner who you can pick other than Ashwin who is worse. And Binny isnt going to do magic. I could Ashwin instead of GG but Ashwin looks so useless.

One spinner at max I.e jadeja but we have to go with 4 5 bowlers even if it means binny playing inplace of nohit just so that the workload of the pacers can be shared. 3 pacers shouldn't include pishant

Jadeja will do better with ball but get raped with bat, yet he is more batting all rounder. Ashwin will do better with bat but get raped with ball, yet he is more bowling all rounder. Either way we are screwed and sums up the mess we are in!!

Indeed, people are coming up with insane stuff. We must go in with 6 genuine front line batters and keeper at 7. We must also play 3 seamers and 1 spinner. When poor test team, batting depth is a must thus must play 6 out right batters. Also when poor team need a spinner to bowl overs, as I fancy we may have long days in the field:giggle: Plus our best chance is to bat first pile on massive score and hope spinner weaves magic day 4 and 5 on worn pitch

All these years I have learnt one thing that u have to play either with 5 bowlers or 4 bowlers and 1 AR to win test matches.if u don't then ur frontline bowlers get tired and in such a long test series they won't be able to perform with high intensity

ok misunderstood :icflove: 4 bowlers and AR is ideal but we dont have a genuine AR.So to play 5 bowlers we'll have to reduce our batting which is a big risk as even saving matches would be hard if it doesnt work out

These tour games show..

• The new group of bowlers are improving, learning, ready to play. Guys like pankaj and pandey should be backed. No point crying about yadav, unfortunately he won't play. Ishant sharma is still a talentless pile of brainless horse sh*t - he shouldnt play but going by today's game, he might :(( We have guys who can bat through. Rahane, Pujara, GG, even vijay batted through a bit. Some will lose their wickets but that's test cricket. Can count on a few of the top 5-6 to bat long. We have adjusted to the conditions fairly well. Bowlers improved lengths for example. Dhoni is a clueless mofo yet again Rahane could be a key player again

Bowling could be an issue because of inexperience. Need better strategies on the field. If the bowlers step up, we are in the game.

i think in SA we clicked well. you had vijay and pujara, pujara and kohli. but yh i agree, no settling down. Part of that is having crap like rohit who gets out on a duck when needing 100-200 runs. It triggers a collapse. Rahane at 5 for now means a specialist batsman short but better to get closer to 20 wickets. Dhoni can bat his normal style, better if ball is old. Then need jadeja and binny to bat in partnerships like the other day - imagine 30-50 runs most days? Dhoni is trying to settle the team but there is junk that needs removing. Rohit can only play in India. A guy like rahane has scored everywhere. Even vijay had a 97 in durban.

Shami will definitely be in the starting line up. He is the only decent bowler with old ball. Bhvan and Pankaj. I honestly don't want Ishant anywhere near. India could have rather picked Sandeep sharma. Jaddu vs Ashwin.. in terms of bowling Jaddu is better. Atleast he won't be expensive. 5th bowling choice vs 7th batsman. this is where Dhoni most likely screw up.

Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Rohit Dhobi Jadeja Shami Pankaj Pandey Ishant, Aaron sitting out. Would have Saha instead of Dhobi tbh but its not gonna happen and most likely Ishant will start. But why is Ojha not in the squad? He would have done well in England, good county record and Jaddu isn't gonna last too long in tests anyway. At least away from home he will be ineffective. 1 or 2 tests early on he got away with but it won't last.

With Dhawan being dodgy Vijay becomes very critical, he needs to stay as long as possible probably 70-100 odd deliveries then it would give Puj,Rahane Kholi enough platform to score. lower middle order hopefully will score some good runs. The problem would be wickets, who will get them ?
