BeautifulGame Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I surprised to see that how BCCI can do such things. They should have wait for the BD tour over. This is going to effect the performance of those players who did not make it on England tour. There are visa difficulties before an england tour . That's why the squad is announced so early
SLICKR392 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I am a big fan of Umesh: Morkel What do you make of your bowling partner, Umesh Yadav? I am a massive fan of Umesh. We have played together with the Delhi Daredevils and it is fantastic to play with him yet again; this time for KKR. He is a natural athlete. We are close friends and I really hope he can kick on from here and make that spot in the Indian bowling line-up his own. http://www.iplt20.com/news/2014/features/5500/i-am-a-big-fan-of-umesh-morkel
The Realist Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 To put in perspective' date=' Jadeja and/or Ashwin can play in a 5 man attack, or Saha can play as a specialist batsman if it came to it- either way will work better than playing Binny[/quote'] Playing both Jadeja and Ashwin on English pitches when the "summer" so far has been cold and wet will be suicidal. But agree that playing a proper bowler or batman is much more preferable than a bits & pieces player like Binny.

But agree that playing a proper bowler or batman is much more preferable than a bits & pieces player like Binny. We need to play 5 bowlers must. We have lost every series badly overseas in last 3 years playing 6 + 4 bowlers . How bad can it goes t worse if we five bowlers . Need to play Jadeja at 6/7 and play four seamers. Of course it will never happen with Dhoni's passive captaincy in tests
Straight Drive Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 You never know when some pacer gets a niggle during practice or actual match and they might have to call up Umesh.
Cricket_Hacker Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Don't like saying this, but hope Ishant twists his ankle in the nets and Yadav is called in
Straight Drive Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Don't like saying this' date='but hope Ishant twists his ankle in the nets and Yadav is called in[/quote'] Never call for injuries to any player. Can't help though only if occurs accidentally. I twisted my ankle once during run up while bowling in the nets and that cost me at least a week of acute pain. Took me one month of rest to get ready for a 40 overs match.
zep1706 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Pishant would play 100 tests before he turns 30 with stats like avg. 40 and SR 80.
zep1706 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 You never know when some pacer gets a niggle during practice or actual match and they might have to call up Umesh. But Dhobi would not play him in the final XI. Otherwise he would surely be in the 18 member squad.

BlackMamba Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 There are visa difficulties before an england tour . That's why the squad is announced so early What Visa difficulties? Then don't effing go. If Eng cannot give Visas, whenever we want. don't go. Who is going to suffer? Come on!
vvvslaxman Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 But Dhobi would not play him in the final XI. Otherwise he would surely be in the 18 member squad. Is it a possibility that Selectors are sending a message to Dhoni, "Since you don't play him we don't include him in the squad". Whatever it is , there is much more involvement than Dhoni, Sandip Patil. There are some external forces clearly involving in the selection of guys like Panni, Ishant.
Straight Drive Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 But Dhobi would not play him in the final XI. Otherwise he would surely be in the 18 member squad. There have been instances when a player not in original squad has made the playing 11. I remember Saffer Marchant deLange got a call and played a test. Many other selections like this which we do not track .
Texan Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Umesh should have been in the team, but instead of Ishant Sharma. Pankaj has fully deserved his chance. I hope Pankaj gets some games and not just asked to carry drinks.
saneindian Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 What a misleading headline and some silly write up. Pankaj Singh has made it to the squad due to appeasement? This joke of a writer should look at the number of wickets he's taken season after season. Umesh has been unfairly excluded from the squad but to criticize Pankaj's selection is as idiotic as it can get.

They did zilch in NZ and will do same in England. Ashwin is even worse than Jadeja overseas. I will play 4 pacers.

Not external...internal factors like a father who happens to be a selectors. Why can't they just send a VIP team full of selectors sons,ex cricketers sons, commies sons etc.....to Zimbabwe instead ...why shame the national team?

Jadeja did well in SA in his first overseas test. NZ pitches do not suit Spinners at all. Jadeja usually does well in England. Ashwin has not done well anywhere outside of India.
rkt.india Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Jadeja did well in SA in his first overseas test. NZ pitches do not suit Spinners at all. Jadeja usually does well in England. Ashwin has not done well anywhere outside of India. That SA pitch was far more spinner friendly than you will ever see overseas. You do not see such pitches overseas. Jadeja did well in CT and those pitches were drier than usual English pitches because Ashes they left them dry to assist Swann and negative Aussie pacers. We will not see such pitches in our test series.
