When I was a kid,I remember film fare awards used to be telecast on tv,it meant something....it was almost an indian equivalent of the oscars....it was a decently dignified show....the awards had a lot of meaning. In recent times, probably it was film fare( I believe) srk and his cronies were treating it like a house party, there were some below the belt jokes on the attendees etc,it was just a train wreck....made the award ceremony feel like a joke. Now let's take t20 cricket,a format still struggling to get a stamp of approval from some of the fans,in the recently concluded t20 wc,when India lost ,the heartbreak as an indian fan was real,at the same time the emotion shown by srilankan team looked real and they were happy honoring 2 of their biggest cricketers even though it was no way as prestigious as an overseas test series win or the odi wc,still it felt credible. Now let us look at the Ipl finals, call it tamasha or whatever but as a cricket fan I would like to suspend disbelief and beleive in my franchises, beleive in the players....when a team wins it should focus on them and their emotions.now people will say Ipl is fixed anyways, that's a debate for another day but as I said as a fan you should have a suspension of disbelief. Now having said that srk's antics are so over the top, loud and garish it automatically brings down the prestige associated with winning any championship,it is just embarrassing to watch that joker and attention seeking *****'s antics. Kkr fans I ask you this question,in all the happiness you have with your franchise winning the Ipl ,doesn't these antics embarrass you and water down the prestige associated with a tournament that now is slowly getting a global acceptance. I have lot of other examples where srk has just ruined things with his over the top persona....take my name is khan another example,a sensitive subject on both a man suffering from aspergers as well as what could have been a social commentary, was just too embarrassing to watch,it did nothing for anyone but just embarrassed us even more. In trying to capture the South Indian market with chennai express,ra one, etc. he is just bringing back the South Indian stereotypes that have slowly been vanishing in recent times. All in all just saying that this attention seeking ***** ruins a lot of things.

Is that a typo ?? :--D Anyways, I think IPL is just entertainment. When you give broadcasting rights to Sat Max who keep promoting some 3rd grade bollywood movies during the match, idea of pure cricket goes out of the window. Treat it like a circus and you might enjoy it. :winky:

As a fan,I don't....I want it to be credible, I would never waste my time say watching a double wicket competition tournament or some crappy celebrity league cricket.....not just with me every indian cricket fan wants to take Ipl more seriously....true set max coverage with all the bulaawa abaya and jumping jhapaak it up to begin with,I don't mind them showing srk or even interviewing him as he owns the team and he deserves to get some air time but it is his loud and embarrassing antics here and almost everywhere is what pisses me off. Him doing a filmy style drama just takes me away from the moment. And no it was not a typo....I meant garish as in obnoxious and even you are not wrong because gayish can be another adjective to describe him

Once you start hating someone' date=' you can always find reasons to keep the hate going.[/quote'] Why would I hate srk.....I respect him for being a true hustler, who went from being a nobody to a millionaire but doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws and drawbacks. I don't care about his films,he has a market,he makes money good for him but just that he manages to stink up a lot of other things

:hysterical: @ OP IPL is the perfect stage for SRK and co, IPL has perfect credibility for entertainment on par with America's WWE and zero credibility for being a professional fair global sporting competition.

Its his team so why the hell should he not celebrate...
This! It's his team that won. Let him celebrate FFS! I wouldn't have done anything different, had I owned a team that won the tournament.

Its his team and he can enjoy as much as he wants. He owns the team and he can do whatever he wants. Also, the cameras focus on him as people want to watch him. As for ruining things, he has tried his best to ruin things for all husbands by constantly doing MA MA with his Mum in law in every movie. At times he seems more interested in hugging the mum in law than his GF. To top this, he also started the tradition of men fasting on karvachauth. He has tried to make things tough for all men, bastard sala
