He is fragile but at the peak of his powers. His change in run up is the perfect case study on how to optimise pace and potential.

What I am saying is that ... some other pacers might have matched him for pace if they did not have to play most games in all 3 formats.

Umran still didn't bowl all out today.

His instincts will tell him to be in control of line & length rather than going all out in his return match. One bad game on return , again he will be out of the team.

In the last 4-5 months got only couple of matches .

Yes, once he is settled and more confident, he will go all out. He is going to get quicker. He clocked 157 at the age of 22. He is someone who if stays fit can clock 160+.

Is that Murali Kartik on the commentary? Chutiya started crying about "control" the moment Umran went for a few in his last over. Ex cricketer clowns like these are reasons why our selectors keep selecting "accurate" trundlers.

If he couldn't control his hair loss,he shouldn't talk about control of flow of runs

Bloody hypocrite

Shardul misses a straight ball that was played off Umran and it goes for a  4.

7 extra runs that Umran had to concede till his 6th over due to poor fielding and poor field placement.

Watching umran bowl makes me wonder how useless chetan sharma is . This guy with shardul in place of boobi and express patel might have helped us go to finals .

i am sure as we approach wc , we will be back to boobi and Harshal express for the renowned slow spin bowling they do .

This bit is obvious to everyone except those in charge.

Wood bowled 34 balls over 150 kph at the t20 worldcup. Lockie just 7.
Wood is much quicker on average.

Yeah but their fastest are matchable.

The amount of cricket we play, we need at least 6 quality pacers available at any point of time for tests and 50 overs.

We mix formats a lot. Someone like Arshdeep who is not an x factor bowler is picked for ODIs based on T20s while his list record isn't that good. Requirement for ODI isn't same as T20s.

Wood rt now is at the peak of his powers, there was a time when he was hardly touching 150 kmph.

Lockie  has always bowled in the range 140- 155, 155 being max, his slower are at 125-132.

As for today there was no support, let alone taking wkts they were not able to stop 4/6 when Umran was bowling with some hostility.

There is lot of time to adjust to Arshdeep type of bowlers in odis

I won't be surprised if he's given a test cap very soon,as they have a false perception about him being another all format bowler like they boozed with Boobie's case

Once the ball doesnt swing or spin and the cutters dont work our bowling just falls apart. This is where we need height and pace  and slower balls(not just cutters off the pitch) with tight accuracy and brilliant fielding.

TM needs to understand this u cant have too many same type of pace bowlers sorry for saying this but amongst bhuvi, chahar and shardul only one can be in the squad not all or two arshdeep i understand is very raw but problem with him is,he is looking to put the ball rather than hitting the deck ,on such deliveries these floaty type deliveries are going to be smashed 9 out of 10 times, he needs to take advantage of his height u can get away with lesser movement by hitting the pitch but not by gentle release,he is putting effort in his short balls but his fuller balls two needs to hit the deck harder, shardul looked so unfit, that he needs to work on his fitness also which genius plays just 4 seamers in NZ siraj and sen should have been there,

Ideally ur 5 main seamers should have been

Siraj

Arshdeep

Umran

Sen

Chahar

A seam bowler in siraj

A left armer tall guy in arshdeep

A skiddy genuine quick guy in umran

A fast tall guy in sen

A swinging medium pacer who can bat in chahar

All different bowler could easily have dropped chahal here as he adds nothing here but our TM management is oblivious or duffer i dunno, sab changes fati main karte hain

Bowling requirement for ODI is simple - Mostly Test match bowling for first 40 overs & T20 death bowling in last 10 and players should be picked accordingly -

My 6 for tests and ODIs ..

Bumrah

Siraj

Prasidh

Sen

Umran

Shami ( only for tests )

Chahar ( only for ODIs )

Develop Tyagi to replace an aging Shami in all 3 formats.

Agree.  Should be for T20 only . I think for 50 overs apart from Bhumra, Siraj , next 2 of pool should be from Kuldeep Sen, Umran, & Prasid & may be Mavi.

Not sure about Prasiddh, last time I saw him play he showed no josh, jazba, junoon or aggression, necessary ingredients for a fast bowler.

Kiwi commies scottie Stevenson & Shane bond said Umran had spunk in him  when he bowled a fast bouncer to Latham & stared at him after Thakur misfiedled a boundary previous ball.

Bond was repeatedly praising Umran..
