vishalvirsingh Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Good bowling by avesh... Getting bounce off just short of good length

Has very poor to poor bowling averages in the IPL, ODIs, List A and T20Is. Lacks pace, bounce or significant swing. Not that accurate either. Plus can't bat and ordinary fielder. Uganda Nepal can play him easily too.. actually all these domestic star bowlers..should be asked to bowl against first these icc rank 8-15 number teams..in some internal compeition..surely bcci can arrange that..and include our u23 teams too Edited December 21, 2023 by Need4Speed express bowling 1

He has figured out the stock ball which is so vital for longer formats. Seam position has never been an issue and he is tall so he can extract some bounce although needs a lot of work on that. Average pace can improve but it's not that bad if he can avg around 134-135. He is putting some work in his batting and that shows he has good attitude. I hope he continues the good work. Credit where it's due. He has improved tremendously. Arshdeep deserves a shot in odi. I am not sure if should play tests. Can he maintain intensity in tests and bowl 25 to 40 overs across 2 innings? Cant understand how a trundler, talentless idiot like him can be given so many chance. Whats the future of Indian cricket? Trying to understand what angle resulted in his selection. Handsome? Yes he is Marketable? Yes he has a huge following Quota? Yes caste or whatever it may be. Fills the quota. Political backing? Perhaps he will be a future MP. He got the wicket of Miller ans that won us the game. So he will be playing tests now.

He was rapid as in ranji a few years back. Nathu Singh another one that was real quick. Suhaan 1
singhvivek141 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Arshdeep has shown good progress in this series, as I said trundlers should always have some exceptional skills or batting ability to justify their place. Arshdeep seems to have add some strength in his hitting ability. If this version of Arshdeep stays fit, he can be useful in T20's & seaming conditions. Avesh Khan's performance has been decent as well, I think his good form during SMAT helped him transition the confidence which he seemed to have been taking during the previous outings. Mukesh Kumar has been the worst of all, he was smashed left & right in SMAT as well, not sure if selectors have learnt a thing or two from his performance. But he is bang average in all 3 departments. Suhaan 1

Yes,he should be applauded for his performance here, but what I like about Arshadeep now is he has taken batting seriously ood for the boy He knows just being a specialist bowler won't cut it Hope he maintains pace around 138-142 with bounce and swing and improve further Now has to learn the art of bowling on surfaces which has nothing to offer,he should be in the mix harpicP and express bowling 2
harpicP Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Seriously though. Full respect to guys like Mukesh etc who toiled hard in domestics. I appreciate all that effort. Yes they do well in first class. But the real challenge is overseas in sena. We can't afford to give practice games in the actual test series for players to develop. You need to show promise in A tours first and some ability to bowl pace between 135 to 145 or have skills plus consistent ability to generate bounce on flat wickets. If this isn't possible then sorry you shouldn't get picked for india.
rollingstoned Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Arshdeep seems to have learnt a thing or 2 about sticking to consistent line and length and setting batsmen up probably after playing county cricket. Fear initially was that he had lost his death bowling by playing too much long form cricket and turning into a new ball swing bowler but he has not lost that completely. He still needs to add a bouncer in there somewhere whcih will make him even more potent and keep the batsmen guessing and make better use of his height. Good on him though I feel there are better prospects than him for 50 over cricket and we may benefit more imo from making him focus only on T20s so we get 4 bankable overs there. express bowling 1

deepdynamo Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 After the retirement of Ishant and moving away from Bhuvi and Umesh, we have got Bumrah, Shami and Siraj as our first choice attack. We should preserve Shami and Bumrah for most important assignments and Siraj can be all format bowler right now. -Prasidh Krishna is next in line and we should strictly bar him for T20. Let him concentrate on both longer format only. -Somehow Mukesh Kumar is also in the mix as 'all format bowler". He has no upside and should be discarded immediately. If any, his best format is the longest format and should be given opportunity when main attack warrant rest. - Arshdeep is being groomed as T20 and ODI leader and should stick to that. No tests for him as of now. -Shardul Thakur is neither here nor there. He is currently filling as 4th seamer in away test but he has been regressing pretty fast. He provide no value in ODI. He can be tried in T20 if the TM focus on multi faceted T20 team. -Deepak Chahar is a T20 bowler. That's it. -Pandya is more of a batting allrounder but can be a piece of puzzle in ODI and T20. - Avesh Khan had a previous failed term with team but somehow came back again in the mix in both shorter format. Should be discarded and if persisted, play him as a filler in T20 format only. - Next in Line India A seamers are V kaverapp and Harshit Rana. These two are next in queue. Akashdeep & Tushar Deshpande are supposedly the next in line that will be backed. ( based on their selection in India-A vs SA-A ) Not in contention as of now -Navdeep Saini ( Too old and why selectors keep coming back to him for A tours) -Umran Malik ( India's fastest bowler but without control. I think TM has given up on him. Now only he can save his own career by lightning up IPL. Otherwise he is a gone case.) -Shivam Mavi ( Disappeared after trying to become a line and length bowler- can still make a comeback in T20 but he is far behind the pecking order) - Harshal Patel ( he had his time in sun, not coming back) - T Natrajan ( was a good filler bowler but he is 33 now and his time us up) - Kuldeep Sen ( 1 ODI and then injured and discarded) tweaker 1

Lord Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 but but Arshdeep isnt an ODI bowler Ravi_Shastri 1
harpicP Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Arshdeep averaged 9.5 in this series vs full strength saffer limeup. 9.5 !!!! His list a stats is good enough 26.5 And remember he was young at the time In first class its 29. That's a little bit of the high side but he can improve.
harpicP Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 New bowlers to be drafted in. Not including prasidh as he is already in the first team Arshdeep Rana Tyagi Mayank yadav Keverappa Potentially more with Umran If he improves
