He looks like another Thukesh Kumar type of bowler, I don't have much hope in him. Where are the next Bumrahs and Shamis?

I cannot believe talents like Tyagi have not been groomed at all, such poor management, it is mind boggling.

They all debut at the age of 23-24. By the time they hit 26-27 they became experienced.

Our current fast bowlers are debuting at age of 27-28..by the time they will gain experience they'll already be 30-31, and start to decline in two or three years.

Agarkar who himself debuted at young age in 90s when we had literally noone barring Srinath to bowl at bare minimum pace that too in India against a very aggressive Australian odi side in 1998

Wonder what someone like Agarkar thinks when we should be trying few when we have some good prospects unlike 90s

Pacers always take time to get to their own in internationals more with Indian pacers

Why are they giving late opportunities, even Mukesh got his chance in 30s

Absolutely !

Can't believe the myopic approach that this TM.and selectors have adopted regarding newer pacers.

Don't know why no one is searching for the next Bumrah and Shami !!

Bumrah was just a pleasant accident which happened to Indian cricket thanks to yet another gift from John Wright the foreigner for MI

Although he came through FC since 2013

IPL is not the place to learn the nuances and skills of fast bowling

They should have been promoted and marketed more by their regional cricket associations,UP cricket and other boards dont care about their brand

I think of 2 reasons

1. BCCI's priority is not cricket but money. All they care about is IPL and its viewership, tournaments like SMAT, VHT, Ranji, Irani are hardly televised. Everything revolves around IPL now, even with the fans.

2. With no focus from BCCI, selectors don't have any ownership for their decisions. When there is no one to watch you, a sense of laziness and "don't care" attitude creep up. Coaches are given free ride and no one is serious enough to ask right questions. On top of it, now BCCI has shut the mouth of ex cricketers and media houses.

Hence selectors while choosing a team just look for IPL teams and their domestic stats. They don't care if someone is a stat pad batter or a condition dependent bowler

yet another wc defeat..we produce lot of average cricketers.. very few become superstars.. and the crucial differentiator is - our average cricketers are pathetically poor compared to Aus/Eng avg cricketers.. that's why you see 6/7 wicket hauls from Steve O'keefe, Hartley, Azaz Patels etc while our even good bowlers tend to suffer overseas

Potentially - but also RP Singh was very strong in England 2007, Sreesanth was a lethal weapon in SAF, Siraj/Thakur became Test match winners in Australia with the ball and so sometimes it is horses for courses.

Last 5/6 years looks like Ind is going pre-Ganguly captaincy era, where anyone and everyone was selected without any plan or potential.

Low potential players with no intnl quality are being picked not sure why that is. there could be multiple factors. No one is questioning about team performances and goals overall.

Players making back-door entries at the start of world event, high potential players are being ignored and not being groomed. Coach and selectors  are retained because they are unable to find a new personal fr the job.

Present chairman of selectors orchestrated a win for the whole generation to savour in Australia by his stunning 6fer in Adelaide against a very strong batting unit

Yes we have so many sides in our domestics which produces many average cricketers as well apart from few good ones, that's a drawback having so many sides

Need to make the competition stiffer by reducing number of sides

Even in IPL we will soon reach 12-15 sides in coming years

Himanshu Chauhan has 28 wickets from just 9 FC innings.

More than 3 wickets per innings.

That is just incredible for a debutant.

He will get his chance in 7 years time, when his speed is down to around 130kph.

Just shows how much a coach having free hand can affect a team, positively and negatively. The chappel era, the Shastri era and now the Dravid era. The mentality has flipped a 180 fom Kohli-Shastri combo to the current coach and captain.
