With no second pacer and no practical fast bowling bench Bhumran can run in to same Srinath kind of situation where he over bowled and bowled to extent where injury a major injury curtail his bowling abilities.

 

He was supposed to not to play Bd series but he did and played both matches because Ind does not have any exp.reliable fast bowler now in this NZ he was over-bowled.

 

Its getting clear with every match Siraj is not a wkt taking option and can not be #2 bowler in a series against a good side

Selectors have added Sundar in the squad inspite of having Ashwin, Jadeja,Axar,Kuldeep in the squad, but they have not added Harshit in the squad .

Monoj Tiwary wants India to rethink about opting Mohammed Siraj as their second fast bowler after he failed to pick up a second-innings wicket in the last seven Test matches.

 

 

Tiwary wants Gambhir to rest Siraj and go with an in-form Akash Deep, who picked five wickets in the two Test matches against Bangladesh last week, preceded by a nine-wicket haul in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy.

 

Tiwary said he believe that if you have a bowler who is in rhythm, is picking wickets in international and domestic cricket, and has that X factor as well, pick him in the squad and play him. Siraj has not picked a single wicket in the second innings in Tests this year, which is quite concerning. He should have been rested for a few games, so that he gets the time to focus on the basics and work on his release. We have a lot of back-up bowlers. Akash Deep performed impressively against Bangladesh. His confidence level was high. He never would have imagined not playing the first Test in those conditions. He must have been left shocked not seeing his name in the playing XI.

 Aakash Chopra has backed Siraj over Akash Deep as the second-choice pacer in the team for Australia. He added that Siraj  should be backed through his lean patch and the pacer’s longevity is the cause of backing

 

"Akash Deep has done well, but Siraj has done well for India for a longer time. You have to give the leverage for that. It is just how we look at batters. They do not consistently do well. Look at KL Rahul, he last hit a 100 28 innings ago.
