Rightarmfast Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 (edited) Kerala vs Assam- Asif is making the ball talk. How quick is Asif? The ball is just flying away to the keeper. Edited December 8, 2025 by Rightarmfast Suhaan 1

Same as his entire career. He has never really sprayed the ball. He has always gone for runs in some ODI innings because he is not good at bowling variations and may get predictable in the end overs. It is not because he sprayed the ball. https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/481896.html?class=1;spanmax1=31+Dec+2018;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/481896.html?class=2;spanmax1=31+Dec+2018;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling Does not have to be intentional. If you are not used to bowling accurately at pace for 15 to 20 overs a day then it is possible that you may end up bowling slower if you try to improve accuracy in a match. There is no substitute to bowling and bowling many many overs with pace and accuracy combined. Pace bowling is not for the lazy. I'm not talking about his economy rates. I've seen line data for Shami and his lines were never as good as it became during the 2022 IPL and he basically maintained that until the World Cup.

My thoughts are: He is 'quickish'. Sharpish. Not out and out fast. Perhaps around 141-143ish. He is pretty well built. However, I feel he sprays a lot of energy in his action. I think there is a scope to gather his action to make it linear. But he was bowling too short of a length. Not sure whether it was today, or that is his general tendency. Yes ,fails to tranfer momentum in his delivery stride express bowling and Mosher 2

The topic being discussed wasn't whether Shami improved his lines later on. ( He surely did as most do ). The topic was whether Shami was accurate enough in the first half of his career. He surely was. He never sprayed the ball like Prasidh or Harshit do, especially Prasidh. Suhaan and Mosher 2

And I didn't compare them directly. Im just saying young Indian bowlers don't show the ability to bowl a good line - especially the ones with pace - Mayank Yadav was an exception.. And Rana bowled very good lines for the most part. He didn't spray it around a lot. The pitches were so flat and often with dew that even accurate deliveries were getting smashed. Only Prasidh sprayed
Rightarmfast Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 I feel Nabi is ready for international cricket. Anymore delay, and we will lose one more fast bowler. Sure, he lacks that extra 5k's in his bowling. But skill wise, I think he is there. tweaker, pramodk and deepdynamo 3

Kamboj set the last domestic season on fire while Nabi has done this season. Both are similar pace- 130ish. One good thing though is that Nabi can bat and contribute in lower order. Rightarmfast 1

Sorry that is deal breaker. Only way 130 kph should be picked is if they can bat at 8 and above.

Pace may have decreased now ~140 kmph and effort ball may touch 144 kmph Edited December 8, 2025 by tapandrun Rightarmfast 1

That kind of pace does not work at intl level, some of the pitches he bowled this year were too much in favour of fast bowlers. He is skillful but those skill does not matter much in intnl cricket if not bowling at lively pace. express bowling 1

Anshul Kamboj doesnt have it in him. Nabi is a little different. Don't think he is bad. He is definitely a better bowler than someone like Arshdeep, who doesnt bowl quick either. But agreed that if we have 140+ bowlers, they deserve the place. Lekin abhi Nabi form me hai.
Rightarmfast Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Btw, just saw a video from some cricket expert yesterday that Sakib was clocked at 150k's. Cant verify, but certainly saw the video stating that. express bowling 1

Yes , I read some reference of Sakib's interview https://www.awazthevoice.in/personality-news/kkr-pacer-sakib-hussain-s-rise-is-a-story-of-ambition-and-grit-29095.html He said, "It is nothing short of a dream to bowl to Rohit Sharma sir, Virat Kohli sir and MS Dhoni sir. My dream is to bowl to Virat Kohli sir and help my team win. I bowled at 145 km at that time; today it's 150 per hour but I hope to take it beyond 150." these reports are mostly are dodgy Edited December 8, 2025 by tapandrun Rightarmfast and express bowling 1 1
