undisputed chap Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 What has Kaptaan Kool done to deserve staying as captain? come on. He has scored 2 fifties & on top of keeping wickets. While pujara has 1 & kohli has anda. I would rather have one of them captaining in home game vs WI instead of giving it to them when they are not in form
Muloghonto Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 It is clear to all but the die-hard dhoni haters that Dhoni is the best man for the test captaincy for the next couple of years. There is no one else available for the job and our prime batting talents have much to prove in the way of batting rather than being burdened by captaincy.

RedFever Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 It is clear to most people except some die hard Dhoni fans that India need a new test captain. Dhoni can stay as the limited over captain and as the world cup and champions trophy winner he deserves that, at least till the 2015 world cup. But most of us who have followed test cricket closely understand that Dhoni just does not have what it takes to be a good test captain. His negative and in some cases mindless (like giving his bowlers 1 over spells for 1 hour) captaincy has stopped this side to achieve its full potential. I have no doubt that with the players that we have right now, we can be a really good test side. We need a person who understands the longer format and Dhoni is not that man. So who do you think has the qualities to captain this test side? Personally I think Rahane could be that man. I am not convinced with Kohli's temperament and I would just let him bat freely without the burden of captaincy. Pujara doesn't come across as someone who has leadership qualities to me. Vote and discuss. With the kind of bowlers we have in the team, you make steve waugh the captain, the result would be the same.
vvvslaxman Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Pick Binny don't give him overs at all Pick Rohit andh he gets out cheaply And say Rohit selectinn > Binny selection because Binny didnt bowl enough overs That is something lol
Straight Drive Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Every loss will fetch criticism. Dhoni has to go through this. He will at least because he seems more matured than the antics of Virat on field (although i feel Virat is a top class ODI batsman). Giving it to kid who runs around with middle finger to crowd won't be good. let the replacement show he is cpataincy material overall. Captain has authority to make important decisions and they actually do. He can influence the performance of players either positively or negatively to a certain extent. As far as batting is concerned we cannot blame Dhoni because he played the batters in their usual positions. Also that Murali and Ajinkya are prospering there is hardly anything Dhoni can do about the bad form of rest batters. Where captain (Dhoni) comes into picture more is the fielding innings. More decisions are to be taken like bowling spells sequence, bowling from right ends, field setting for each and every bowler and each and ever opponent batsman the way he is playing. But then bowlers too have to support such that Dhoni can afford certain field placements and bowling changes. it has to be two ways contribution in the fielding innings. Entire blame should not be passed on Dhoni, likewise neither should he be absolved of certain degree of blame for some wrongdoings. Selection is one aspect though where captain is entirely responsible. The best have to be taken in squad of 16/17 whatever. Further, captain has to read wicket well and select proper combination. If at all i would point a mistake, i would say Dhoni may have misread the wicket. Hopefully the more players in team contributes in a much better way in next game. That would be far more effective imo, rather than changing the captain as of now. If he fails to win matches with mroe players contributing then we can certainly say Dhoni needs to be sacked. In this test when hardly few players did well , i would not say so.
putrevus Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Dhobi is such a lucky SOB, I dont think we have seen more lucky SOB than this fellow. When Indian team wins ( he rarely does anything to help ) this fricking moron gets all the credit but when India loses he never gets the blame He is surviving both as a player and captain for only one reason not good enough alternatives is that good enough reason to continue with him is the question everyone needs to ask and answer. l

ThePhenomenal1 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 the squad we have, we can win the series. but the captain wont allow it

zep1706 Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 NID I am far from a Dhoni hater. But Indian test captaincy is not Dhoni's "jagirdari". He has failed to do the job in 3 years and must be sacked. Forget the results, his tactics are bizarre. Anyone who understands test cricket and not a Dhoni lover would be able to see that. Dhoni deserves to captain the limited over side till the 2015 world cup but he has lost that right in test cricket.

That is a philosphical way of assessing a defensive captaincy who picked a team to go for draw from day one. Knowing fully well he was going to play a debutant. So bowling resource was severely depleted. If your goal is to get 20 wickets you should pack your side with 5 best bowling options available and rotate them i ntelligently enough to get wickets. What was the point of going in with 6 batsmen plus 2 semi all rounders and himse Shami - out of form Pankaj - debut Bhuvan - already severely overworked like a donkey Jaddu - average form With this bowling line up how was he going to get 20 wickets on a flat deck? If we could have skillted them out for 370, you wouldn't need a 6th batsman. Cook's field setting would not have been aggressive througout the innings. There is a cascading effect England has two seasoned veteran bowlers. Broad and Anderson. They have a 5th and 6th bowling options who are better than our part timers. What does India have? An overbowled BHuvaneswar. That's it.

zep1706 Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Me too. I am not a hater. But his captaincy is downright garbage. I actually like him and I genuinely believe that he is good at managing the players. But it is pretty clear to me that he does not understand test cricket and his approach is very defensive. The Indian team needs a new captain with fresh ideas.
