Gollum Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I didn't watch the movie, just read some reviews and tweets which seemed to suggest that the movie portrayed the Army in bad light and didn't cover the KP exodus. But maligning our Army, even in cinema should be strictly discouraged, cinema is a powerful tool and can galvanize people to form strong opinions, imagine if this movie gets screened in some international film festival, foreigners would also get a bad impression of our armed forces and develop a soft corner for the Pakistanis. Hafiz Saeed, ISIS, Taliban and thousands of radical madrassahs in India will be showing this movie to kids, doing propaganda, creating an impression that Muslims in India are oppressed and Indian Army is evil. Way to go !!!
rahulrulezz Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Are you sure about this. 6 of us have been planning to see this movie for a while and are going on Friday night show. If someone could please confirm his post, we will cancel the movie
rkt.india Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Are you sure about this. 6 of us have been planning to see this movie for a while and are going on Friday night show. If someone could please confirm his post' date=' we will cancel the movie[/quote'] Yeah, it's more about Kashmir issues than Hamlet and even in that Kashmir issue, they have half truth.
Guest PrancingHorse Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I've not heard a single bad review though. I'm planning to watch it Sunday.
Gollum Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 @rahulruless My friends who watched the movie said that the movie was brilliant but it painted Army as villains, no touch up on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and sort of justifies the taking up of arms by the separatists coz of atrocities of the Army. They tell only 1 side of the story-the one backed by Pakistanis and separatists. Go back India, Indians are leeches etc are dialogues and banners prominently displayed in the movie.
BeautifulGame Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Way to go democracy :hats off: Yeah any movie view we don't agree with should be banned
Lord Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Way to go democracy :hats off: Yeah any movie view we don't agree with should be banned Its not a view. They are presenting facts in a distorted way

Number Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Way to go democracy :hats off: Yeah any movie view we don't agree with should be banned Not banned but people should know what is presented in the movie and if they don't like they can boycott it. I personally think, censorship should be almost minimum and only for extreme cases.
Gollum Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 I believe in freedom of speech but maligning the Army needs to be discouraged. I mean they are the most noble institution in our country. To the best of my knowledge Indian army never backs terrorists, is secular unlike so many other global counterparts and never attempted to thaw our democratic process, not once since independence, not even after 1971. They sacrifice their comforts and bleed in the most hostile environment so that people like us may be safe and secure. Least they should get in return is our respect and gratitude and none of this nonsense propaganda that Bollywood dickheads want to force upon the masses.
coffee_rules Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Machis, Shaurya - there have been movies with showing Indian Army in the grey area. It's the truth because war/worn-torn regions brings about the best and worst in humans. Nobody knows how an individual will react to traumatic stress.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The only negative point about the Army is the misuse of AFPSA.That fact even govt. Have accepted.
rising Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The movie kind of portrays army India in badlight but its not exactly the truth its movie which just shows struggle people who due some circumstance help people who terrorist then get caught end up branding them as terrorist and plight of thier family what Film failed to do was so the army side of story which the film should have , they hinted the terrorist might be making fool(brainwashing) Shahid but the end they just didn't focus on the terrorist and end up being army VS Shahid , I wished they had more open end where it was not clear whether army or terrorist were responsible for certain some ones death(missing) that's premise of the whole film

FischerTal Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 just boycott the film if u don't like it. thats what i have done. although i would love to see the reaction if a mainstream movie on KP exodus is made.
FischerTal Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 it will be fun to see whether haider gets banned in pakistan. i don't think it will. serves as good propaganda for cadres
coffee_rules Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 http://qz.com/275278/vishal-bharadwajs-haider-is-a-difficult-conversation-about-kashmir-that-must-take-place/ And so Haider with all the harsh truths of Kashmir is the first such Bollywood film to reach mainstream audience in India. It is remarkable that a studio like UTV—now partially owned by Disney—backed such a strong political film where there are many scenes of villagers being rounded up by the army, protesters demanding answers about the missing people and some very difficult torture scenes. The next few days will reveal whether the Indian audience will accept Haider, go beyond the scenes of violence and also see it for its portrayal of the soulful dark tale of Hamlet. Already an anti-Haider campaign is building up on Twitter under the hashtag #BoycottHaider with people claiming the film is anti-India and anti-Indian army, and that it does not balance the story by also showing the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits. The hashtag is trending high in India. In Bhardwaj’s defense, the film does mention the plight of the Pandits. And the real message of Haider is that revenge only leads to further revenge, and that the acts of violence must end. The end credits of the film include a statement thanking the Indian army for rescuing hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris during last month’s floods that ravaged the valley. Another statement says that the situation has improved considerably in Kashmir—tourism is up and the film was mostly shot in the valley with many extras from the area.
Texan Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Don't watch the film if you think it doesn't agree with you. Nobody is forcing you to go and watch it. There is no need to further censor freedom of speech and expression. In fact, I am against all forms of censorship. How can a handful of adults decide what is right and what is wrong to watch for all the remaining adults? Are these the only wise people in this world? We should be moving to a system of rating like the US and no censorship.
coffee_rules Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Nobody is asking to ban it, but it is not illegal to start a campaign on twiiter to boycott it
