A very few can overcome them and become successful everywhere and those are called ATGs. If Viru and GG were born and brought up in Aus, SA, or England, then they would have been different than what they are now.

Guy like Sehwag did score hundred every major team in their home conditions except NZ.yes he had some bad series but in two of those series even guy like Sachin was awful. Rahul Dravid has poor away record in SA and SL other than one Adelaide test in 2003 his record in Australia is poor too but it is somehow glossed over very easily. Sehwag was one of the main reasons why Indian team ascended to no1 and with Gambhir he formed the best opening pair India every had instead of appreciating their services some idiots try to drag them down.

Yantra Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Very Sad to see Viru go, one in a llife time batsman, ever since he made entry in to Indian team people came to watch him more then Sachin, only player in my mind who have played Saqlain with authority and even destroyed his carrer, in his hay days bowlers would be frighted to bowl to him, remember in one series again NZ in NZ Kyle Mills was sacking his head when captain ask him to bowl to Viru, Played Glen Mcgrath with Authority ever since he made his debut, destroyed all great bowler in their prime, Few of then that comes to mind are Saqlain, Mcgrath, Pollock, Ntini, Vaas, Umar gul, Jason Gillespie, Shane Warne, Murli, very very gifted hand/eye cordination player to me he was the most attacking and fear some ever even more then sir Viv.

IMO it is more than some forum, it is even ingrained in many subcontinent media/fans heads who still think in colonial way where everything they (England and Australia) say must be right. When SA chase down 435 on flat wicket it is termed as the greatest match but when Srilanka fall short of 413 by 3 runs in Rajkot few years later it is called death of cricket by same people. Sehwag did some things which no batsmen could do, his dismantling of SA at eden gardens which had Dale Steyn was out of this world.But only idiots call him FTB. He never had perfect technique he himself said it many times so once he lost little from his hand eye coordination he was bound to lose it very fast that's why he is struggling even in domestic cricket. Even great Viv Richards who like Sehwag depended more on his hand eye coordination than technique once he lost little of that he was not the same player.

Viru and GG were instrumental in us achieving the number one rank in Tests and winning the 2007 T20 WC and 2011 CWC........That itself makes them ATGs for me....... Pity that their form went downhill after the WC.........there were still some flashes of brilliance from time to time........but as soon as they lost their reliability as a pair........it was curtains.......
