I was thinking about this. Rohit hasn't really done great to get to bat at first down which is sealed by Pujara or 2nd down which is for Kohli. He was coming 3rd down, but Rahane's emergence and Rohit's decline made sure that both slots were switched. I have a feeling that Rohit will do better if he gets to bat up. Like how he improved in ODI when he was moved on top. I am not saying if we replace Rohit with Kohli or Che Pujara, I think he can be tried as an Opener in test with Vijay. I like Shikhar Dhawan, but he hasn't really been scoring or converting starts at the top. If we can give a game or two to Rohit with Vijay as his opening partner, I think we would have seen what he can do. It's just somethign to think about if we have repeated failures from Dhawan. Hopefully Dhawan will and consistently settles down so we don't have t worry about him.

No rohit should be used as a floater...I still think no 4 is ideally suited for him..but we already have a gun player in kohli in that slot...rohit can be our very own gilchrist..come in 50-50 scenarios and just put the game out of the opponents reach....so I will go with 6 for now

Rohit does not have the technique to play the new ball, well i guess he does not have the technique to play even the old ball. Anyway he is very loose outside his offstump and keeps chasing deliveries which should be left alone. I guess the problem is he does not know where his off stump his, if he is promoted up the order he will probably get out before even scoring 10 runs. I dont see him succeeding in test cricket outside India, the sooner we get rid of him from the test team the better it is for us. But Dhoni has already said that just like how they gave him 100 odis to finally come good they are going to do the same for him in test cricket as well. So we will have to live through this torture for some more time until we can finally say goodbye to him from test cricket.

Atleast dhawan scored a hundred and 90 in NZ what did nohit do, Dhawan scored many odi hundreds and has been best odi bat after Kohli overseas. Dhawan failures are not mental his failures are technical where as nohit failures are both mental and technical there is no remedy for it. I will take guy like Dhawan over guy like nohit every day. Why does nohit deserve a chance at the expense of someone else what the heck did he do to deserve it.
